“Completely tacky”: Bride slammed for asking for dinner payment

<p dir="ltr">A bride has caused a stir online after asking if it is appropriate to ask her wedding guests to pay for their meal when they RSVP to the big day. </p> <p dir="ltr">The woman took to a popular wedding Facebook page to ask the opinions of other brides, sharing an example of her invitation created by her wedding planner. </p> <p dir="ltr">The invitation asks guests to confirm whether or not they will be attending the nuptials, before asking if the guest intends to eat at the wedding ceremony, and which meal they would prefer. </p> <p dir="ltr">The price of each meal was also included: $20 for grilled chicken with rice, mashed potatoes and green beans and $25 for a salmon alternative.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We invite you to eat with us but ask for you to provide your own payment. Please select which meal you'd prefer,” the invite stated. </p> <p dir="ltr">“My wedding venue requires me to purchase food through them for the reception, but has said people sometimes choose this option,” the woman wrote on Facebook. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Nothing about my reception is very typical anyway, SO I'm wondering how insane or rude or cost-effective/smart this is.”</p> <p dir="ltr">“The planner set me this as an example of how to present it to guests.”</p> <p dir="ltr">But when the post was quickly criticised by others, the bride clarified the event was more of a “fun dinner party” rather than a “wedding” as she and her partner had already legally married five months prior. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Ultimately I'll do what I want BUT I did not choose this option. It was only a suggestion from the venue that I was curious about others' opinions on,” she added. </p> <p dir="ltr">“This is for the reception. I'm most definitely not asking for money or gifts and by the time they come to the reception, we will have already been married for five months.”</p> <p dir="ltr">The post was shared in another wedding shaming Facebook group and critiqued by dozens of wedding experts.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Oh hell no! This is completely tacky!” one wrote, another said, “So she asks if it is rude then gets offended when people say it's rude?”</p> <p dir="ltr">“I am a veteran pro planner and would NEVER suggest this!” another said. </p> <p dir="ltr">Someone else wrote, “I'm especially shaming the venue for suggesting that people often pawn off the cost of dinner to their guests. “So tacky”: Bride slammed for using GoFundMe to pay for wedding

<p dir="ltr">A cash-strapped bride has been slammed for considering using GoFundMe to help pay for her wedding. </p> <p dir="ltr">Taking to a wedding page on Facebook, the bride explained that she and her partner had been saving as much money as possible for their wedding, but were struggling with their finances. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Our wedding is next year but I'm still so stressed that we won't be able to pay for the things that we need let alone actual decorations,” the bride began.</p> <p dir="ltr">Given the large expense of a wedding, the bride questioned if it was “tacky” to use GoFundMe, a crowd-funding website used for emergencies, to fund her big day. </p> <p dir="ltr">People were quick to chime in on the idea, with many people labelling it as “inappropriate” to use such a site for wedding expenses. </p> <p dir="ltr">The bride didn't share how much extra money she needs to fund the wedding, but many said she should continue to save rather than rely on others.  </p> <p dir="ltr">“Have the wedding you can afford, or wait and save,” one said bluntly. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Personally I think it is [tacky]. If you want to have a wedding you should be funding it yourself. If you can't afford all the things you want, then I guess you have to decide if you would rather go without or postpone until it's in your budget,” another wrote. </p> <p dir="ltr">One woman said it's “insensitive” since GoFundMe pages are for emergencies only, such as medical situations. </p> <p dir="ltr">“If you can't afford to have the wedding you want you really have two choices - postpone until in a better position financially or scale back your plans to fit within your means,” she said.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image credits: Getty Images </em></p> <p> </p>

Interior designer shares key things that make your home look “cheap”

<p dir="ltr">Everyone has their own unique way of decorating their home, finding the perfect aesthetic to make your space your own.</p> <p dir="ltr">And while there are limitless ways to jazz up your home, there are a few major faux pas that can instantly turn your space from fab to drab. </p> <p dir="ltr">An expert interior designer has gone viral on TikTok for listing the three things to look out for when decorating your home in order to avoid your space looking “cheap” or “tacky”. </p> <p dir="ltr"><strong>Visible cords</strong></p> <p dir="ltr">Her biggest no-no was having electrical cords for all your chargers and appliances on show. </p> <p dir="ltr">She said they can make any space look “cluttered”, and recommends hiding cords behind special covers of under furniture. </p> <p dir="ltr">“You can run your cords through the wall if possible and if not you can get a little case from Amazon. So much better,” she said.</p> <p dir="ltr"><strong>Mass-produced artworks</strong></p> <p dir="ltr">Another thing the designer recommends avoiding is generic, mass-produced artwork that you find in home department shops. </p> <p dir="ltr">“When you're looking for artwork, look for something a little bit more original, something that not everyone will have,” she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">She also advised against cluttering a space with too much art, and recommended focusing on one main focal piece instead. </p> <p dir="ltr"><strong>Tacky decor </strong></p> <p dir="ltr">The design expert also warned against tacky pillows, decor pieces and anything with an inspirational quote. </p> <p dir="ltr">She told all shoppers to steer clear of anything that boasts the words “Live, Laugh, Love”, and encouraged people to pick more classic and timeless decor options. </p> <p dir="ltr">While some appreciated the designers tips, others encouraged people to decorate their homes however they see fit. </p> <p dir="ltr">“What if I am cheap?” one woman asked.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Things that make my house look cheap: no money,” another quipped. </p> <p dir="ltr">“If it makes you happy then it's not cheap,” another said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Just let people be happy with whatever they like and can afford,” one annoyed fan said.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

Cruise passengers slammed over “tacky” buffet etiquette

<p dir="ltr">Though buffets are designed to feed hungry passengers while onboard, one cruise guest has sparked a row online over whether it should be an option to take buffet fare beyond the ship.</p> <p dir="ltr">Taking to Reddit, the passenger asked whether they were allowed to fill plastic containers they brought with them with buffet food to take on day excursions.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Are we allowed to fill our personal plastic containers with buffet food?” they asked.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We will be leaving the ship and exploring but want to take food from the ship and pack it for later during the day while we are out exploring.”</p> <p dir="ltr">While it might be allowed, other passengers quickly shared their horror at the suggestion.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Wow, I can’t think of anything more tacky honestly,” one said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Take a box of granola bars with you if you must, for when hunger strikes and food is nowhere to be seen but practices like this are exactly why Venice stopped allowing cruise ships to dock in their ports.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Passengers would come off the ship, bring a picnic, tour the sights, leave their garbage in the city, spend as little money as they could get away with, and sail off leaving the city more worn than it was before without really doing much to contribute.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Please consider partaking of local food, drink and delicacies while you are ashore in various places.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The people who graciously welcome tourists into their ports also depend on them for their livelihood.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Another added: “I would slightly judge someone filling up a container in line but you paid for the food.”</p> <p dir="ltr">With many tourist hotspots eagerly welcoming cruise ships back into their ports after the pandemic saw businesses across the travel and tourism industry suffer, others also suggested choosing to enjoy the local cuisine.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Eat a hearty meal before departing the ship,” a guest wrote.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Partake in some local cuisine instead of dealing with the hassles of taking food into foreign countries.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Some warned that taking food from the buffet to eat later could increase the risk of getting sick, while one user pointed out that some ports won’t allow food from the ship.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Many cruise destinations do not allow food from the ship to go to shore, particularly fruits, seeds, nuts etc,” they wrote.</p> <p dir="ltr">“So be careful and make sure it is allowed. "Tacky and tasteless": Piers Morgan addresses Meghan Markle controversy

<p>Piers Morgan has slammed the Duchess of Sussex in his first interview after being dumped from ITV's<span> </span><em>Good Morning Britain</em><span> </span>after comments he made about Markle's mental health.</p> <p>He appeared on US streaming service Fox Nation and spoke with host Tucker Carlson about his departure that came after Markle formally complained about his on-air behaviour.</p> <p>"I still don't believe what they were saying," Morgan told Carlson during the interview.</p> <p>"And in particular, I don't believe what Meghan Markle said. Seventeen different claims by the pair of them have now been proven to be either completely untrue or massively exaggerated or unproveable.</p> <p>"I didn't believe Meghan Markle, a huge furore erupted through the day - I was an outrage.
