"Fly high sweet Nacho": Robert Irwin shares sad loss of beloved pet

<p>In a world often dominated by headlines of turmoil and strife, there's something oddly comforting about the internet rallying around the loss of a beloved pet chicken.</p> <p>Yes, you heard that right – a chicken named Nacho has captured the hearts of thousands, and her departure from this world has left a void in the Irwin family and beyond.</p> <p>Robert Irwin, the perpetually enthusiastic conservationist and wildlife warrior, took to Instagram to break the news of Nacho's sad passing. In a heartfelt video message, he shared the sorrowful tidings with his followers, who had grown fond of the feathery friend through their virtual interactions.</p> <p>“Hi guys, very sad news to report. Unfortunately, our gorgeous little chicken Nacho, who I know you all fell in love with, and we love so much, sadly passed away,” <span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">Robert lamented, his voice tinged with genuine sadness. </span>“She was a beautiful old chook who lived a lot of great years and we’re really, really, really, really sad to lose her.”</p> <p>And oh, what a life Nacho must have lived! Robert reminisced about her golden years, filled with clucking adventures and pecking escapades. </p> <p>But, amid the sorrow, there shone a glimmer of hope as Robert introduced two new feathered friends into the Irwin fold – Waffles and Mochi. With names as delightful as their predecessor's, these plucky newcomers are sure to fill the coop with joy once more.</p> <p>In the world of social media condolences, the outpouring of love and support was nothing short of heartwarming. Messages of sympathy flooded Robert's feed, with followers expressing their condolences for the loss of Nacho while warmly welcoming Waffles and Mochi into the fold.</p> <p>"Fly high, sweet Nacho," one commenter bid farewell, echoing the sentiments of many who had come to adore the quirky chicken.</p> <p>There were also words of encouragement and delight for the newest additions to the Irwin menagerie. How to make healthy nachos with the perfect guacamole

class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">Saute onion, garlic, capsicum, coriander stalks for 1 minute with the olive oil then add the cumin, paprika, tomatoes and water.</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">Add the black beans, corn, splash of tabasco, maple and a pinch of sea salt and pepper.</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">Fold through a handful of coriander.</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">Serve in the pan with your choice of sides such as guacamole, avocado, lime, yoghurt, roasted sweet potato or gluten free tortilla chips.</li> </ol> <h2 class="css-7sl3hd-StyledSubhead e188yva80">Smashed Guacamole</h2> <p class="css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020"><strong>Ingredients</strong></p> <ul class="List css-1hqo8ex-StyledUnorderedList-StyledBaseList ev5pl0r2"> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">1 avocado, cut in half, stone removed</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">Pinch of sea salt and white pepper</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">1 tablespoon lime juice</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">a few splashes of green tabacso (1 teaspoon)</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">2 tablespoons coriander, chopped</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">1 the flesh out of the avocado into a bowl.</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">Add the salt, white pepper, lime juice, tabasco, coriander, and red onion.</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">Mash together with a fork until combined and spoon onto a serving plate.</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">Drizzle with a little oil if using.</li> <li class="css-a2mnio-StyledTextListItem-StyledListItem ev5pl0r3">Serve with sliced baby cucumbers and celery.</li> </ol>

Deliciously simple! Healthy nachos that give a good kick

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Woolworths ambassador, Dani Stevens tells you how you can make a deliciously simple meal for you and the whole family.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I love to make things simple and this recipe is exactly that. All you will need for this creamy vegan cheesy sauce is milk, oil, flour and Macro Nutritional Yeast Flakes – my secret cheesy ingredient!</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To get more of that cheesy vegan flavour, I’ve also added onion powder and mustard. You can also spice up this super creamy cheesy sauce so many ways with garlic or fresh herbs. You name it, it works!</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This cheesy vegan substitute goes hand in hand with my Mexican Bean Mix using the Macro Certified Organic Mexican Style 3 Bean Mix which is delicious in nachos, tacos or burritos.</span></p> <p><strong>Cheesy Nacho Sauce</strong></p> <p><strong>Serves 4</strong></p> <p><strong>Ingredients</strong></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">5 tbsps Woolworths Free From Gluten Plain Flour</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">4 cups plant based milk of choice (I use soy)</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">1/2 cup Macro Nutritional Yeast Flakes</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">6 tbsp vegan butter or Macro Certified Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">1 tbsp Dijon mustard</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">1/2 tsp onion powder  </span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Salt and pepper to taste</span></li> </ul> <p><strong>Method</strong></p> <p>1. Heat butter or oil in a saucepan and allow to bubble before sprinkling in flour.</p> <p>2. Stir continuously as the flour begins to cook and change colour, add the milk slowly and stir vigorously to avoid any lumps.</p> <p>3. Continue to stir until the sauce begins to thicken. If too thick add more milk.</p> <p>4. Stir in the mustard, onion powder and nutritional yeast. Season with salt and pepper.</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tip: I love using this sauce as a base with other vegetables such as adding cooked mushrooms for a delicious mushroom sauce.   </span></p> <p><strong>Nacho 3 Bean Mix</strong></p> <p><strong>Serves 4</strong></p> <p><strong>Ingredients</strong></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">1 Macro Organic Onion, finely chopped</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">2 cloves Macro Organic Garlic, crushed</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">4 cans of Macro Certified Organic Mexican Style 3 Bean Mix</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">1 bottle of Macro Certified Organic Passata Sauce</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">1 tbsp of mixed cumin, chilli, paprika and garlic powder</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Salt and pepper  </span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Drizzle of olive oil</span></li> </ul> <p><strong>Method</strong></p> <p>1. Sauté onions and garlic in fry pan with olive oil until soft.</p> <p>2. Sprinkle Mexican spices and cook for 1 minute or until fragrant.   </p> <p>3. Drain and rinse beans and add to the frypan with passata sauce.</p> <p>4. Cook until all flavours marry together.</p> <p>5. Enjoy! Time to pimp your nachos, tacos or burritos!</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tip: This is such a versatile Mexican bean sauce. Add your favourite fresh veggies for some extra nutritional value such as corn, cherry tomatoes, avocados and capsicums. </span></p>

Vegetable and bean nachos with chipotle sour cream

<p>Chipotle is a Mexican spiced chilli sauce that adds loads of flavour to any Mexican dish, including this tasty vegetable and bean nachos. You can find it in the Mexican section or sauces and condiments section.</p> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Serves:</span></strong> 5</p> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Ingredients:</span></strong></p> <p>Vegetable and bean sauce</p> <ul> <li>1 red onion, finely diced</li> <li>1 capsicum, core removed, finely diced</li> <li>2 carrots, grated</li> <li>1 ½ tablespoons nacho spice mix* (see below)</li> <li>1 x 400g can chopped tomatoes</li> <li>1 x 400g can mild chilli beans</li> <li>1 x 400g can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed</li> <li>1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce</li> <li>1 cup grated cheese (e.g. tasty, edam or Colby)</li> </ul> <p>To serve</p> <ul> <li>½ cup natural unsweetened thick Greek yoghurt or sour cream</li> <li>1 tablespoon tomato sauce</li> <li>2-3 teaspoons chipotle sauce</li> <li>2 baby cos lettuces or 1 iceberg lettuce</li> <li>2 bags good quality corn chips</li> <li>¼ cup chopped coriander</li> </ul> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Method:</span></strong></p> <ol> <li>To make the nacho spice mix, mix together 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon ground cumin and ½ teaspoon ground coriander. If you want your nachos to be a bit spicy, add ¼ - ½ teaspoon ground chilli or cayenne pepper.</li> <li>Preheat grill to high.</li> <li>Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large fry-pan (preferably oven-proof) on medium heat. Cook onion and capsicum for about 4 minutes until softened. Add carrots and nacho spice mix and cook a further 1 minute.</li> <li>Add tomatoes, chilli beans, kidney beans and sweet chilli sauce, stir to combine. Simmer for about 5 minutes until sauce has thickened slightly. Season to taste with salt and pepper.</li> <li>While sauce is simmering prepare rest of the meal; mix yoghurt or sour cream, tomato sauce and chipotle sauce together in a small bowl; finely slice lettuce.</li> <li>Sprinkle cheese over bean sauce and place pan under grill for about 5 minutes, until cheese is bubbling and golden. If you don't have an ovenproof pan, transfer bean mixture to an oven-proof dish before topping with the cheese to grill.</li> <li>To serve, place corn chips, chipotle yoghurt/sour cream and lettuce in bowls and place in middle of table along with bean sauce so everyone can help themselves. Healthy nachos

<p>Nachos are the perfect snack for a lazy Sunday in front of the telly, but let’s face it, it’s not the healthiest treat! These lighter nachos will satisfy your craving for a Mexican snack without making you feel guilty afterwards.</p> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Serves:</span> </strong>4</p> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Ingredients:</span></strong></p> <ul> <li>5 soft corn tortillas</li> <li>1 ½ tsp. vegetable oil</li> <li>1 jalapeno chilli, seeds removed and cut into thin strips</li> <li>100g mozzarella, grated</li> <li>2 tbsp. low fat sour cream</li> <li>½ small pack coriander leaves, chopped</li> </ul> <p><em>For the guacamole</em></p> <ul> <li>2 ripe medium avocados, stone removed and chopped</li> <li>1 tbsp. lime juice</li> <li>2 spring onions, trimmed and finely chopped</li> <li>2 tbsp. chopped coriander</li> <li>A couple of drops tabasco sauce</li> </ul> <p><em>For the beans</em></p> <ul> <li>400g can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed</li> <li>1 clove garlic, crushed</li> <li>¼ chilli powder</li> <li>¼ tsp. ground cumin</li> </ul> <p><em>For the tomato salsa</em></p> <ul> <li>4 tomatoes, seeds removed and finely chopped</li> <li>¼ small red onion, finely chopped</li> <li>1 clove garlic, finely chopped</li> <li>1 tbsp. lime juice</li> <li>1 tsp. vegetable oil</li> </ul> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Method:</span></strong></p> <ol> <li>Preheat oven to 190°C.</li> <li>Brush both sides of each tortilla with oil before cutting into 12 pieces per tortilla. Place the pieces on baking paper and bake for 10 minutes or until crispy and golden, then remove.</li> <li>Turn oven up to 200°C.</li> <li>Mash the avocado in a bowl, keeping some of the texture. Add lime juice, spring onion, coriander, tabasco and salt and pepper, to taste.</li> <li>Add the beans into another bowl with the garlic, chilli and cumin powders, mash with a fork and then add 2 tbsp. water to make a rough mash. Add salt and pepper, to taste.</li> <li>In a separate bowl, mix tomatoes, onion, garlic, lime juice and oil, seasoning with salt and pepper.</li> <li>10 minutes before serving, place the tortilla chips on a lined baking tray and spoon the beans, then the salsa, then scatter the jalapeno chilli and mozzarella. Bake for 4 to 5 minutes or until warm and the cheese has melted.</li> <li>Remove from the oven, spoon over sour cream, scatter coriander, and serve immediately with guacamole on the side.</li> </ol> <p>Do you have a healthy spin on an old favourite?
