Dad cops furious note from "egotistical Karen" for parking in parent's bay

A Perth dad has been left hurt after he was targeted by an "egotistical Karen" for parking in a parent's bay, while his wife was inside a shopping centre changing their seven-month-old baby.

"Don't park here again, you selfish prick!" the note read.

His wife took to Facebook on behalf of her hurt husband to question why someone would go out of their way to criticise him for parking in a space designated for parents.

"My husband was putting a baby gate in the boot while I was in the forum changing our seven-month-old baby," she defended her partner, who parked at the Mandurah Forum.

"He came back into the forum looking for me [and] when we returned, someone had put this note on our windscreen.

"How about next time you be sure before insulting an innocent husband and father, you hero."

The woman said that the note left her husband "hurt and almost feeling guilty" and she argued that he had every right to be there as a parent.

Her post attracted over 300 interactions with many agreeing with the mum, and saying that the "Karen" should've gotten their facts straight before taking action.

"There is no law for who can park in parents with prams spaces they are just convenience but anyone can park there and use," one man wrote.

A few others shared the same sentiment and said that "it's not illegal to park in those bays" regardless of whether or not you have a baby.

Some parents even shared their own experiences and why it is important to not judge someone based on looks alone.

"This has happened to me also. I had a baby and a toddler and my husband took them inside the Mandurah forum while I unloaded our car," the person began.

"A couple with a baby parked next to me and the man kept yelling at me that it was only for parents with prams, even though I told him I had young kids and a pram. But he didn't believe me and yelled loudly to move my car."

One mum added that she doesn't see the need for parents with prams spaces altogether.

"As a mum of just a five-year-old, I personally don’t see the need for parent spaces. They are not any bigger, just more convenient. Kids need exercise and prams have wheels, not hard to walk," she wrote.

"I personally think they should be seniors bays instead, they are less mobile and struggle to walk long distances. Give them the spots."

Images: Facebook

"We want answers": Furious cruise passengers stage protest after itinerary change

Passengers onboard a Norwegian Cruise Line voyage has expressed their outrage after their once in a lifetime trip to Antarctica changed course after the journey had already begun.

Melbourne woman Helen Midler was one of hundreds of people onboard the cruise from Buenos Aires to mainland Antarctica, when staff informed all travellers that their itinerary had changed.

Days into their journey, those onboard were told they would not be visiting Antarctica at all, but would be doing a "South America round trip" instead.

Midler took to social media to share her frustrations, saying the communication between the cruise line and the passengers was very poor.

She explained that she only found out about the change after checking the app a few days into the journey and noticed the name of the cruise had been changed.

Passengers were later told the change of destination was for "operational reasons" after raising their concerns, however no further explanation was given.

Those onboard were allegedly told the decision was made by the head office in the US to not visit Paradise Bay, on mainland Antarctica, before departure on January 31, and that all passengers were notified by email, and again at check-in.

However, Midler claims this was not the case.

"I can assure you that we never got any email and many of our friends here on board, and I'm talking hundreds of people we know, did not receive any email either," she said in a video posted online.

"Until the cruise had commenced, most people on this ship were not aware of the change in the itinerary."

Midler said "everyone was angry", with hundreds of passengers meeting at in the ship's foyer one morning in protest to demand further answers from the crew.

"Customer service are refusing to acknowledge us, they sent a security officer out to calm us down," she said while standing in the noisy crowd. "We feel we're being cheated, being scammed".

Midler said frustrated travellers, some of whom "spent their live savings" on the cruise that costs upwards of $4,000 per person, just "want answers, transparency and clarity" but claims they're being treated with "absolute disdain and disrespect" with little explanation given.

"Everyone on this ship has paid a lot of money to cruise to Antarctica, not to do a round trip of South America at sea," she fumed. "We are being dismissed, ignored, refused answers. They're telling us we just have to accept it.

"They think we're idiots. We're not idiots and we're not prepared to just accept this sitting down," she continued. "We may not get to Antarctica. The chances of this cruise now going to Antarctica are minimal. But we want answers."

In the days after her initial post, Midler updated her online followers and said those onboard were trying to make the best of a bad situation, despite still not hearing any clear answers about the change of itinerary.

"We saved and we booked this two years ago for the trip of a lifetime," she said. "We're feeling very disappointed and dejected about the outcomes here."

"We'll never be able to afford to do this again. And we've lost that trip to the Antarctica mainland that we had all been hoping and waiting for, and that we'd paid for. But we're going to try and do our best to enjoy it."

"What an embarrassing effort”: Locals furious over "pathetic" Christmas tree

Locals in the coastal NSW town of Forster are furious over a "pathetic" Christmas tree that was decorated by the council.

In an attempt to spread Christmas cheer, the local council haphazardly threw lights over a huge Christmas tree in the middle of town, prompting outrage from the community.

One local posted a photo of the tree to Facebook, insinuating the tree looks like it was decorated by "Mr Squiggle", while tagging the council in the post to ensure they saw the complaint.

“This is absolutely pathetic, what an embarrassing effort,” they wrote.

“Not that I expect anything less from our council, but this needs to stop. Keep in mind before reading — the Mr. Squiggle effort took three days to complete."

“There is nothing that screams neglect and lack of interest more than an unthoughtful, rushed, ugly, non-Christmassy, rope light installation on arguably one of the most noticeable trees in the entire Forster-Tuncurry."

The poster then compared a Christmas tree from another year with the recent one, and asked whether this is the best that the council could create.

“Is that really the best the creative minds at the council can come up with? A bit of rope light dangling out of a tree?” they asked.

Other locals flocked to the post and agreed with the sentiment, sharing their disappointment in the Christmas tree.

“It honestly would have been better off not being done at all … it’s a hideous mess,” wrote one.

“Our beautiful paradise deserves a lot more so ugly such a disaster effort,” a local wrote.

“How embarrassing for the town.”

The local council caught wind of the disappointment from locals and posted a response to the matter on its website a day later.

It said its staff were not “professional tree decorators” and pointed out that this “comes at a cost”.

“MidCoast Council is aware of the community comment on social media on the Christmas decorations installed on an iconic tree in Forster,” the statement read.

“Council’s Director of Liveable Communities, Paul De Szell, said that while the lighting might not be appreciated by some in the community, even the small amount of decorating comes at a cost."

The council then said that in years to come, locals will be able to have their say for the town's Christmas decorations, with the website stating, "Some sections of the community appear to be very passionate about the lighting and this will give them the opportunity to be involved in the decisions around it."

“Providing Christmas lighting is not a core service of Council, or something we have expert skills in, hence the decision to allow the community the opportunity to take ownership of the lighting going forward.”

Ben Roberts-Smith’s furious phone call to fellow soldier

A livid Ben Roberts-Smith has berated a fellow soldier he believed had been speaking to the media about war allegations, demanding he “stick to the f**king code”, newly released audio has revealed.

Nine’s 60 Minutes played a recording of the exchange between Roberts-Smith and a fellow SAS member known as “Soldier M” in 2018 amid a media frenzy.

Soldier M is a relative of Australia’s most wealthy individual, billionaire Gina Rineheart, and prior to the phone call, Roberts-Smith had sent him a threatening legal letter, with the mining magnate CC’d in.

“Yeah, it’s RS, mate,” Mr Roberts-Smith says in the audio.

“Because I know you’ve talked s**t about me, right? I know that.

“I’ve got no ill will towards anyone that has no ill will towards me, it’s real simple. So you know, like, I’m 100 per cent, I stick to the f**king code, mate, 100 per cent, and I have. So all the s**t that’s going on, I’m still probably the only c**t that hasn’t f**king spoken.

“I don’t trust you, mate, I haven’t been able to trust you for a long time. You say we’re mates. We used to be actually, but for some f**king reason I’ve just become the centre of all evil for you and the group of people …

“You’ve got a young child, I’ve got a f**king family, I want to move on, I’m so sick of f**king army, the unit and all the bulls**t. Just remember I was minding my own business, just trying to do my job, and I get attacked by all these f**king journalists. I haven’t spoken a word about it to anyone in the unit.”

On June 1 Roberts-smith lost his lengthy defamation trial against Nine newspapers’ The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Canberra Times.

Following the verdict, The Australian War Memorial has faced calls to remove the decorated soldier’s uniform from its display.

The 22-week trial saw 32 current and former SAS members provide evidence.

One of the 32, known as “Person Y”, who has never spoken to the media, appeared anonymously on 60 Minutes on June 4.

“You don’t win insurgencies on body counts, yet here is a guy who thinks he’s going to win the war by killing as many people as possible,” he told the program.

“We are not above the law, we are not above the rules of engagement, but I think for him he felt he was above all that, that the rules don’t apply. Many people are having a hard time reconciling the fact that someone they thought was a national hero is in fact the complete opposite, proven to be a bully, a liar and a murderer.

“It’s a tough pill to swallow, especially for a country that’s believed the lies for so long.

“I think they thought they were above the law, that they were not going to be caught, that it was a free-for-all.

“I think I could say on behalf of every guy who took the witness stand that none of us wanted to be there, that’s just not who we are.”

One day after the verdict was reached, Seven CEO James Warburton revealed Roberts-Smith had resigned from the network.

“We thank Ben for his commitment to Seven and wish him all the best,” he said.

Furious husband steals the show at a Brazilian beauty pageant

One beauty queen’s husband has caused a commotion at a pageant in Brazil, after the irate man stormed the stage to protest his wife coming second in the competition.

Audience members at the Miss Gay Mato Grasso 2023 pageant could not have predicted what was coming when Emannuelly Belini - the contestant representing the municipality of Várzea Grande - was announced winner, and Cuiabá’s Nathally Becker as runner-up.

The two embraced, with the crown on the way to Belini’s head, when Becker’s husband chose to storm the stage, bringing an end to the festivities when he snatched the sparkling headpiece only to smash it into the ground. according to local news outlet Globo.

Footage of the incident began to circulate online shortly after, and while Becker’s outraged husband has not yet been publicly identified, thousands are now equipped with the knowledge that second place sparks rage in the man.

He gave destroying the crown another go, and even tried to remove his wife from the stage, before the event’s security got involved and he was taken backstage.

The pageant’s coordinator, Malone Haenisch, later released a statement about what had transpired, trying to put reason to his actions, and stressing that the Miss Gay Mato Grosso judges had been fair in their decision to declare Belini as the winner.

“He did not consider the result to be fair and caused all this inconvenience and damage,” Haenisch said, according to the New York Post.

“We vehemently condemn the incident that occurred at the time of the crowning of the elected Miss when the partner of Miss Cuiabá, who was classified in second place, invaded the stage and aggressively destroyed the crown.”

“We confirm the pageant jury’s choice and we sympathise with the elected Miss, as well as [Becker], as she is not responsible for the crazy attitudes of third parties.”

Haenisch revealed that the pageant’s legal team had been informed of the events, and that any “necessary legal measures” would be taken, before circling back to the true star of the day - Bellini.

“The Miss Mato Grosso Gay pageant team congratulates Miss Várzea Grande, Emannuelly Belini, elected Miss Gay Mato Grosso 2023 on the night of 27 May,” Haenisch said.

“We reiterate our best wishes and wish you a glamorous reign, and that your activities may reflect the voice and desires of the LGBTQIAP+ community.”

Images: TMZ / Youtube

Furious response to 95-yr-old woman tasered by police

A 95-year-old woman with dementia is in critical condition after being tasered by police officers at her aged care home.

Clare Nowland, a mother of eight, was reportedly found by staff holding a knife at Yallambee Lodge near Cooma. Nursing home workers then called police before officers attempted to disarm the great-grandmother.

A critical incident investigation has since been launched by the New South Wales Police, with police commissioner Karen Webb confirming that it will be subject to independent review.

“My thoughts are with the family at this difficult time,” she said in a statement. "I understand and share the community’s concerns and assure you that we are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness."

And while the police look into the incident, a group representing people with disabilities - People with Disability Australia - has criticised the steps taken by police at the aged care facility.

"She’s either one hell of an agile, fit, fast, and intimidating 95-year-old woman, or there’s a very poor lack of judgement on those police officers and there really needs to be some accountability on their side of this," the organisation’s president, Nicole Lee, said.

“This woman, an older woman of 95, needed somebody to de-escalate the situation with her and to talk to her, and to handle her with compassion and time and not tasers.

"Clearly, there's not enough training for police around de-escalation tactics for people with psychosis or Alzheimer's or dementia, for people living with psychosocial disability, autism, or schizophrenia, or anything like that."

She went on to note that more needed to be done within the aged-care sector itself to handle incidents that involved people with dementia without the use of force, and that the actions by police officers in Cooma demonstrates “a failure of protocols” or perhaps a “lack of resources or understanding on their behalf on the service's behalf on how to handle this situation."

Margaret Crothers, a spokesperson for NSW Seniors Rights Service, added that commenting on the case was no easy feat without more information - especially with Clare’s family declining to comment on the situation - but agreed that what transpired did not reflect “normal practice”.

“It must raise concerns,” she said, “no one wants their grandmother or their mother tasered.

“Everyone is concerned about the use of restraint and certainly the use of force from either police or staff and it’s just something that everyone is mindful of in aged care."

Images: ABC News / ABC

Dad left “furious” after mother-in-law rubs whiskey on baby’s gums

A dad has been left “furious” after learning his mother-in-law had rubbed whiskey on his six-month-old daughter’s gums as an “old fashioned” remedy for teething.

Some have pointed out that the father’s response is a “red flag”, and perhaps the most concerning part of the story.

Posting on Reddit’s “Am I the A**hole” forum, the baby’s 28-year-old first-time mother described the ordeal and asked whether she was in the wrong.

She said she was at her mother’s house with her daughter, who is “teething horribly”.

“My mum does some old fashion things and she’s really into herbs and natural healing and such, so she wanted to try rubbing whiskey on my daughter’s gums,” she wrote.

“She said she did it to me and all three of my siblings. I let her, and it did seem to calm my daughter down a bit.”

She told her husband when she got home and said “he was furious”.

“He said that’s harmful to our daughter and it does not relieve any pain,” she continued.

“He got really upset and said I shouldn’t let my mum do something like that, and told me I couldn’t bring our daughter to my mother’s anymore.

“He’s since called the next two days off of work, and is super paranoid watching me every second with our daughter. I feel this is unfair.”

While experts emphasise parents should never give whiskey or any other alcohol to teething babies, Reddit users had differing opinions.

One wrote, “You’re the a**hole, yeah.”

“I mean, you know alcohol is unsafe. It also happens not to work as a topical analgesic – if the baby quietens down, it’s because of the general sedative effect of alcohol. I think it’s hilarious how your mother conflates the use of a well understood but completely inappropriate drug with ‘herbs and natural healing’.”

The second most popular reply said the woman was not in the wrong.

“A tiny drop of alcohol on someone’s finger is absolutely not sedating a baby and is in no way harmful,” the user wrote.

“Alcohol absolutely does have a numbing effect and is used topically for infants and adults with toothache as well. It’s absurd to get up in arms over something so mundane and he’s treating her like she allowed the baby to drink shots or something. I swear this sub is off the rails lately. Is it just solely populated by teenagers now?”

A third chimed in, saying she made a “bad judgement call” but it was natural to take her own mother's advice.

“It’s natural to look to our elders for guidance and to trust them,” they wrote.

“While many mothers (including my own) have used this method, we know a lot more about these older ‘tried and true’ remedies these days … You’re not some monster that’s going to harm your child.”

Others expressed that the husband’s reaction was worse than the old-fashioned teething remedy.

“Honestly, if this is how your husband is reacting, that’s a red flag,” they said.

“He’s right, it doesn’t relieve pain, and if you were to start doing it regularly, yeah, it can be harmful. “Absolute lie": Furious Charlie Teo hits back at 60 Minutes piece

Neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo has slammed 60 Minutes for claims that he charged hefty prices for futile operations that left patients severely injured and families with false hope.

In a one-on-one interview with A Current Affair’s Tracy Grimshaw, Dr Teo responded to a “comprehensive” story aired by the program last weekend, in which multiple families shared their upset about the large financial burdens placed on them and feeling that they had been given false hope by the acclaimed surgeon.

Dr Teo dubbed the report as “abhorrent and disgusting”, and while he admitted he had made mistakes in his career, he said the idea that he was simply in it for the money was false.

“For some outsiders not sitting in the room with you having a discussion with the patient, it‘s so wrong for them to judge you on what’s going on in the room,” he said.

“If someone is trying to portray me as some money-hungry bastard that was operating and hurting children based on money, that’s what I want to correct. It’s not that case.”

The surgeon, who is currently under investigation by the Health Care Complaints Commission, told 2GB host Ben Fordham on Wednesday that he does have regrets about mistakes he’s made.

“But I deny the accusation that it means nothing to me,” Dr Teo said.

“I treat all my patients like a member of my own family.”

When asked if he was sorry about the mistakes he’s made, Dr Teo said he was and that “you would have to be a sociopath” not to be sorry.

“You’d have to be a sociopath not to be sorry because every mistake means some sort of bad outcome for the patient which means quality of life issues, sometimes even death, or paralysis, inability to speak,” he added.

“I mean, if that didn’t affect you, you’d be like Dr Death, you’d be some sort of a psychopath.”

During his 60 Minutes interview, Dr Teo responded to the case of one patient who lost their vision, explaining that he never gave 100 percent certainty that the procedure wouldn’t result in blindness.

“If I had guaranteed that there was no chance of blindness, that is me saying the wrong thing, that’s misinformation,” he said.

“I don’t do that, you can’t do that and not get sued, someone will sue you one day and after 11,000 cases, you don’t think if I have set out to a handful of patients I’d be sued by those patients?

“In that case, I thought the chance of blindness was almost zero, but I never give a guarantee. They are claiming I said that I guarantee you won’t be blind, that is absolute lie, I did not say that I would never say that you be foolish to say that.”

Dr Teo revealed that he has photos of his patients on his phone to remind him of the importance of his job, saying that he carried the devastation of failed operations with him every day.

“There is a French vascular surgeon who wrote a book on the philosophy of surgery, and I don’t think you can put in any better words when he said ‘every surgeon carries with himself a small cemetery’,” he said.

“My cemetery is not small, it’s a significant sized cemetery. (I have) pictures of my patients on my phone to remind me every day I’ve got to do it better.”

While some of his former patients have been critical of the neurosurgeon, others have leapt to his defence, including 24-year-old Monica Lopresti.

After she began to lose her memory in early 2021 but her blood tests returned normal results, it wasn’t until she received the results of an MRI in 2022 that it was discovered that she had a benign cystic tumour in the middle of her brain.

Seven neurosurgeons turned her away, but Dr Teo agreed to perform surgery on her.

Ms Lopresti said Dr Teo explained the risks, which included death, paralysis and being left in a vegetative state, and that she agreed to proceed with the knowledge of the risks.

She added that “it just isn’t true” that the surgeon gave people false hope.

“I wasn’t living a life. I was always calling in sick and I wasn’t having the quality of life that I wanted,” she told news.com.au.

Since August 2021, Dr Teo has been banned from performing operations in Australia but still receives daily requests for help, telling the podcast The Soda Room that he estimates that nine patients a week are left without lifesaving care as a result.

“So the sadness of the situation is that my entire practice was mostly taking out tumours that other people called inoperable, so that was 90 per cent of my practice,” he said.

“That’s 10 tumours a week. So that means, quite conceivably, that there are nine patients a week, who are missing out on either extension of life or cure from a condition that I know that I can help. Now that’s sad.”

Images: A Current Affair

Artists furious after AI-generated art wins contest

A stunning artwork generated by artificial intelligence has claimed first prize at an art competition, enraging the art world and calling into question what it means to be an artist.

The work was “created” by Jason M Allen, a game designer from Colorado, who won first place in the emerging artist division's "digital arts/digitally manipulated photography" category at the Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Competition.

His winning image, titled Théâtre D'opéra Spatial (French for Space Opera Theatre), was made with Midjourney — an artificial intelligence system that can produce detailed images when fed written prompts by the user.

"I'm fascinated by this imagery. I love it. And I think everyone should see it," Allen, 39, told CNN Business.

Allen's winning image looks like a bright, surreal cross between a Renaissance and steampunk painting.

As per the category Allen competed in, he told officials that Midjourney was used to create his image when he entered the contest, as the category dictated entrants use "digital technology as part of the creative or presentation process".

Midjourney is one of a growing number of such AI image generators, joining the likes of Imagen and DALL-E to give the artistically-challenged the means to create stunning images.

Despite the parameters of the category, many artists were angered by Allen’s win due to his reliance on technology to create the artwork.

"This sucks for the exact same reason we don't let robots participate in the Olympics," one Twitter user wrote.

"This is the literal definition of 'pressed a few buttons to make a digital art piece'," another Tweeted.

"AI artwork is the 'banana taped to the wall' of the digital world now."

Yet while Allen didn't use a paintbrush to create his winning piece, he assured people there was plenty of work involved.

"It's not like you're just smashing words together and winning competitions," he said.

"Rather than hating on the technology or the people behind it, we need to recognise that it's a powerful tool and use it for good so we can all move forward rather than sulking about it," Allen said.

Image credits: Jason M Allen - Midjourney

Neighbours star furious over Logies snub

Ryan Moloney – who has played Jarrod “Toadie” Rebecchi on Neighbours since 1995 – held nothing back as he blasted the treatment of the cast from the long-running show at the recent Logie Awards.

Taking to 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed and Erin breakfasts’ show, Moloney ripped into the awards ceremony’s efforts in acknowledging Neighbours is about to come to an end.

He argued those in the "In Memoriam" segment got a better run than they did.

Moloney launched a hearty rant against the award show organisers for seating the team “behind the cameras” on Sunday night, and having former cast members Daniel MacPherson and Natalie Bassingthwaighte represent the cast on stage, rather than actors who have been part of the show for decades.

“We turned up, and we did our mandatory three-hour talking to people on the red carpet... When we got in the room we ended up being split up and stuck on two different tables, it was horrible!” Moloney said on air.

“Our table was actually even stuck behind the cameras, we couldn’t even see the stage... So we figured we weren’t going to get a gig then,” he added.

Moloney said he found the package of snippets from the show that played during the ceremony “incredibly disappointing.”

Elsewhere, he suggested having Bassingthwaighte and MacPherson represent the cast on stage was an affront to the show’s veteran stars, given they were both only part of the cast for four years.

“Daniel and Nat are just absolutely gorgeous people and absolutely nothing against them, but we’ve got people who have been on TV for nearly 30 years each, and I think probably the least they could do is get us to say something … I mean we’re in the bloody Hall of Fame, that’s not how you treat a show that’s in the Hall of Fame. I mean good luck to the Logies really,” he fumed.

His rampage didn’t stop there: “If it’s any indication, the In Memoriam section … I mean half the people in that have worked on Neighbours … They got a better guernsey than we did.”

He said that actors from the show’s rival Channel 7 soap, Home and Away, even noticed the snub, approaching the table to offer their sympathy later in the night.

“The cast of Home and Away came up afterwards and said how sorry they were that we got (snubbed),” he said.

In March, it was announced to devastated fans that Neighbours was coming to an end. The soap drew around 1.5 million UK viewers daily and up to 170,000 metro viewers in Australia.

The finale, which will feature special guest appearances from Guy Pearce, Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue, is expected to air in August, truly marking the end of an era.

Passive-aggressive shop sign sparks furious debate online

Furious debate has erupted after a shop owner took aim at Gen Z workers in a brutal sign blaming them for their business having to close.

The obviously frustrated owner shared in great detail why a pair of young former employees were the reason the doors had to close.

“I apologise for us closing AGAIN,” the sign, erected on the front window of a store in Indiana, USA, on April the 20th, read.

“My two new cashiers quit because I said their boyfriends couldn’t stand here for their entire shift.”

They went further to include some questionable hiring advice for other business owners, telling them: “Don’t hire Gen Zs, they don’t know what work actually means”.

Underneath, they announced the store was “now hiring”, but specified it would be employing “Baby Boomers only thanks”.

The sign sparked backlash online, after it had been shared around online.

With Hundreds of people responding in comments to the post, after it had attracted over 5000 reactions and had been shared over 300 times, some agreed Boomers made better workers than their younger counterparts, but others argued it was unfair to age discriminate.

“A lot of the older people I’ve worked with refuse to do anything physically demanding due to having a ‘bad this’ and ‘my this hurts’ and if asked to do so they will whine and complain,” one wrote.

“That's a pretty awful and ageist sign. I’m pretty young and I work 48 hours a week and never sit once while I’m on the clock. There are people who are young and hard working,” another said.

Most respondents agreed that regardless of whether a certain generation had better workers, openly discriminating against Gen Zs was the wrong way to go.

“I’m a boomer and I wouldn’t want to work at a place that excludes people because of their youth. Good workers can offer service with vitality and enthusiasm at any age,” one person wrote.

Others agree the sign hadn’t done the store owner any publicity favours.

Image: Facebook

Dad furious as 5-year-old hospitalised after vaping

The father of a five-year-old boy who ended up in hospital weeks after vaping with a classmate at school is demanding tighter restrictions on the nicotine products.

Steven, the boy's father, said that a seven-year-old child from the same school brought their mother’s fruit-flavoured vape to school and asked his son to try it.

“Another child grabbed his mum’s vape at home, brought it into the schoolyard and asked them to come into the bushes and suck on this, it tastes like grapes,” Steven told 7NEWS.

By the end of the school day, the disposable vape was empty and the boy’s parents fear that he had been using it.

Three weeks later, the five-year-old began coughing and vomiting and was rushed to Geelong hospital with suspected pneumonia.

“(He) couldn’t stop coughing to the point that he was no longer breathing,” Steven said.

“I had no choice but to call an ambulance.”

The father from Victoria is now demanding tighter restrictions on vapes, which are often marketed with cartoons, fruit and catchy lines. With the goal to out-law this particular marketing strategy for vapes, Steven is calling for better child protection on these devices.

“I can’t open a Panadol bottle without some force, as you’d well know, but a child can pick up one of these devices that has nicotine in it,” Steven said.

Steven paid almost $3500 to have the vapes analysed in a laboratory, with the preliminary results revealing at least 16 chemicals, including nicotine.

In Australia, nicotine vapes are only allowed to be sold with prescriptions.

Image: Shutterstock

"She’d be furious!": New insight into Betty White and Bea Arthur’s relationship

Just one month after her passing, Hollywood gossips are looking for dirt on beloved actress Betty White - and they have uncovered just how frosty her relationship was with her co-stars.

Joel Thurm, the casting director for Golden Girls, revealed that White’s main co-stars Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan thought little of her and described her using quite colourful language during his appearance on The Originals podcast.

He shocked the podcast hosts with the intensity of Bea Arthur’s language relating to White, saying their fury came after she mocked fellow Golden Girls actress Estelle Getty in front of a live audience when she began to forget her lines.

“That may seem like a minor transgression, but it really does get to you … I have no idea how Estelle Getty felt, but I know the other two did not like (White) at all,” Thurm said.

Getty passed away in 2008 from Lewy body dementia after retiring from acting in 2001 due to ailing health.

Andrew Goldman, the host of The Originals, took to Instagram following the episode.

“When I got into journalism, maybe I didn’t dream at 49 I wouldn’t be refereeing a fight between deceased sitcom stars,” he wrote.

“I’m very happy for the attention my latest episode of ‘The Originals’ is getting because Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan apparently used the ‘c-word’ to describe Betty White.”

White had previously spoken about her tense relationship with Bea Arthur, revealing that her co-star had little fondness for her during a 2011 interview with Village Voice.

“Bea had a reserve. Furious backlash after school offers shapewear to female students

Image: Facebook/Getty

A Mississippi middle school has offered body-slimming shapewear to female students this month, leading to furious backlash.

Southaven Middle School in northern Mississippi sent a letter home to parents of teen and tween girls, educating on the issue of negative body image.

The letter concluded with an offer from the school's counselors to provide shapewear — a foundation garment that's used alter a person's body shape. This offer was made to any of the students, aged 10 to 14, whose parents agreed to it.

The letter was shared on social media by mom Ashley Heun, who said that she was 'beyond p***ed.'

'This is what was sent home with my 8th-grade daughter,' Heun, whose daughter Caroline attends the school, wrote on Facebook.

The memo is headed with the nonsensical title 'Why Do Girls Suffer from Body Image?' — which should more accurately say suffer from 'bad' or 'negative' body image.

The memo goes on to discuss how 'social and cultural experiences' create a 'desire to adhere to an "ideal" body shape,' and how girls are 'more likely than boys to have negative body image.'

While the memo is mostly thoughtful, noting that 'women in the United States feel pressured to measure up to strict and unrealistic social and cultural beauty ideals,' it also asserts that girls with a positive body image are more likely to have good self esteem, physical health and mental health — and it offers a surprising way of supporting that.

'We, the counsellors of Southaven Middle School, would like to have an opportunity to offer some healthy literature to your daughter on maintaining a positive body image.

'We are also providing girls with shapewear, bras, and other health products if applicable.'

Images: Facebook

Despite changes to isolation and testing requirements for most of Australia in recent days, it hasn’t put an end to the huge lines of cars and people at testing clinics around the country.

As case numbers spike, thousands of Aussies have reported spending hours in a queue waiting for a PCR test. While they’ve been urged to exercise patience, and treat frontline workers with compassion, not everyone has followed this advice.

Facebook page Sydney Name and Shame, shared a clip of a BMW attempting to cut the line at a testing centre.

“We’d been lining up in the covid test line for hours and this guy just pushes in behind me,” the driver captioned the clip.

Zooming in on the BMW in her side mirror, she explained: “This guy has pushed in and everyone is so mad, as they should be. We’ve been in line for hours, and they’re (the workers) trying to usher him out.”

As the BMW tries to advance their way in the queue, a group of furious tradies surrounded the car to stop them from moving any further, and letting the people the car cut off go back in their original place.

Despite the confrontation, the driver just would “not go”.

“It’s just this guy, he’s just shaking his head, he will not leave the line,” she said.

“What a d**k.

The footage comes as it was announced that 54 Covid testing sites across Victoria will shut to cope with a backlog of testing due to the overwhelming demand.

Private laboratories 4Cyte Pathology, ACL, Melbourne Pathology and Dorevitch Pathology will temporarily close testing centres in the state.

“I’m afraid that today four of our private sector laboratory partners have confirmed they are closing, temporarily suspending a number of their testing centres,” Victorian Covid commander Jeroen Weimar told reporters.

Mr Weimar said the labs would continue to work 24/7 to process the backlog of tests built up over the last few weeks.
