Pilots skilfully land in heavy crosswinds

We take so many elements of air travel for granted these days, that we sometimes lose sight of the considerable skill required from pilots to provide us with safe travel.

The skill is really on display in the video above, which shows a pilot making a landing in heavy crosswinds.

From our perspective it looks quite nerve wracking as the plane approaches the runway at a 45 degree angle. But, rest assured the pilot knows exactly what he’s doing.

A spokesperson for Trans States told Huffington Post the routine is part of pilot training, “All of our pilots are trained to land in heavy cross winds... this pilot did a great job of executing his training.”

Routine or not, after watching this video we think this pilot deserves a pat on the back!

Video credit: YouTube / ElDI SuperNova

Related links:

Hippo stuns guests by taking a swim in the pool

7 travel experiences straight out of a fairytale

70-year-old farmer plants 6,000 trees in tribute to late wife
