"It's still there": Karl Stefanovic breaks silence on feud with Michael Clarke

Karl Stefanovic has broken his silence on the status of his friendship with Michael Clarke, almost one year after their infamous brawl made headlines.

In December last year while on holiday in Noosa, the Today host and the former Aussie cricketer came to blows as Clarke was at the centre of a blazing row with his ex-girlfriend Jade Yarbrough and her brother-in-law Stefanovic in a public park.

The expletive-ridden fight made headlines, with both men keeping relatively quiet about what eventuated from the argument.

Now, Stefanovic has broken his silence on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, as Kyle Sandilands asked what the status of their friendship was.

"Have you reconciled with Michael Clarke yet, your personal self, regardless of the sisters [Jade and Jasmine Yarbrough]?" Kyle asked Karl live on air.

"Kyle, it's like a sticker. You rip it off but it's still there," Karl said, revealing peace had not yet been brokered between the pair.

"There's still a bit of stick," Jackie O said, and Karl confirmed she was correct.

"Is that like one of those stickers they put on your car when you're parked in a No Standing spot and you can't get that bastard off, when you try to pick away?" Kyle asked.

"Yeah. That is really, really deep," Karl agreed with a laugh.

Karl's admission comes just weeks after Michael Clarke told his side of the story on A Current Affair for the first time.

In the interview with Ally Langdon, Clarke began by acknowledging the complexities of handling personal matters in the public eye.

He explained, "A lot of people are involved, you know, there's other families, there's friends. I think it's always important that you do your best to try and respect that as well."

While dodging questions about the specifics of the argument, Clarke admitted to making mistakes, saying, "I've made, ah, I've made some mistakes, I haven't made mistakes. Brisbane officer captured punching and tasering motorist

Footage of a brutal altercation between a police officer and a motorist has surfaced online following a catastrophic three-car crash.

The Queensland Police officer is captured on video punching the motorist through the window of his car in Strathpine in Brisbane’s north.

Police allege the “highly agitated” man was drinking from a wine bottle and was under the influence when the officer arrived on the scene.

“After the officer attempted to take the bottle away several times, it was allegedly thrown towards him,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said.

“After giving numerous directions for the man to remain in the car, it will be alleged he continued to attempt to leave the vehicle by kicking the door into the officer, who used physical force to contain the man in the vehicle.”

The heated exchange occurred around 1:45pm on June 22 after a collision at the intersection of Gympie and Samsonvale roads.

The officer is seen in the video approaching the passenger side of a white car where the motorist tries to leave the vehicle through the open window.

The officer is then seen grabbing at an object the motorist is holding, which police allege was a wine bottle, before allegedly hitting him multiple times.

The video shows the man retreat inside the car before making another attempt to exit through the window, where he is then struck again.

The motorist falls back again before trying to exit for a third time, blocked once again by the officer.

Police allege the man continued to try and leave the car and “after several verbal warnings, a taser was deployed”.

“Additional officers arrived on scene and another officer was allegedly spat on by the man,” the spokesperson said.

The man has since been taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital while in custody to treat minor wounds.

The scene was not short of witnesses, with several firefighters seen approaching the officer.

“He needs to stop,” the woman filming the clip is heard saying.

“Stop hitting him!”

Senior police have reviewed body cam footage of the altercation as investigations continue.

Floating fracas: Hour-long brawl breaks out on cruise ship

A mass brawl has broken out on a cruise ship heading into New York. However, it remains unsure if anybody will be charged.

The brawl broke out on the dancefloor of a nightclub of the Carnival Magic cruise ship in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday the 28th of June.

At the moment of the brawl, the ship was heading back to New York, but the exact location of the vessel will have a bearing on a criminal investigation depending on the jurisdiction of law enforcement it falls under. However, if it took place in international waters, it is possible everybody involved will get away scot-free.

The NYPD has confirmed security on-board were unable to contain the fight and had to summon the Coast Guard. "Security onboard the boat attempted to de-escalate the situation and subsequently called for the Coast Guard," the police said in a statement.

"The Coast Guard escorted the cruise ship to Pier 88, confines of the MTN Precinct. Uniformed personnel and Traffic Agents met the ship and the ship disembarked passengers without further incident".

An eyewitness passenger Theresa James claims the fight began over a "threesome".

Massive brawl breaks out in nightclub of Carnival cruise ship just off New York harbor. Dramatic pics of huge brawl outside wedding reception

Footage has emerged of the moment a wedding reception in Sydney's north shore descended into chaos, as guests became involved in a brazen fight.

The video, which was uploaded to Reddit, shows dressed-up guests throwing punches in the affluent suburb of Mosman on Saturday night.

A spokeswoman for NSW Police spoke to news.com.au and said officers were called after reports were made of 30 guests becoming involved in a fight.

“This is after a wedding. Not sure the context but the groomsmen and guests were fighting among themselves,” the person behind the camera said.

In the now viral video, guests have taken off their suit jackets as four women and four men fought on the busy road, halting traffic.

One male guest is seen throwing a woman to the ground before running after another guest.

A separate fight, directly adjacent on the open highway side of the intersection, involved at least another dozen revellers.

One man is seen on the ground in front of a stopped white car, prompting three others to rush over to check on him.

Another man is captured on video with no shirt, and is seen grabbing someone from behind and hitting their head on the asphalt.

Meanwhile, another man – who appears to not be a guest at the function or involved in the fight – attempts to direct traffic around the brawl.

The police spokeswoman said that when police arrived, most of the guests had left the scene and “those remaining were reluctant to make a complaint”.

“Following further inquiries, police last night [Sunday, February 20] spoke with a 26-year-old man who told police he’d suffered a broken nose as well as injuries to his face and ribs after being knocked unconscious during the affray,” she said.

“Inquiries are continuing to identify those involved.”

Users on Reddit were shocked by the footage, with one person commenting he that they work “at the Yacht Club next door” and “probably served those people drinks before the wedding”.

Crime Stoppers have urged anyone who has any information about the incident to come forward.

Inside the hostile brawl between Erin Molan and the Daily Mail

The Daily Mail has not taken Erin Molan’s defamation lawsuit lying down, revealing they have been raking through several years of rugby league podcasts in an attempt to prove that the Channel nine presenter is objectively racist.

DM has reportedly collected a number of quotes from 2GB’s Continuous Call Team archive and have on record saying “You like raw feesh?”, “Pick up your chopsticks” and “I wuv you wery long time”.

The 61-page defence alleges the Continuous Call Team frequently spewed out “racist content” on the show by mocking Pacific Islander and Maori names along with emulating Chinese, Indian and other accents.

Molan’s lawyer told NCA NewsWire in a statement: “Ms Molan has commenced proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia for defamatory allegations made about her by the Daily Mail.

“Those allegations, now repeated by the Daily Mail in its defence, are denied. It would be inappropriate to comment further as the matter is before the court.”

Molan claimed that the Daily Mail painted her as a racist and an “arrogant white woman of privilege” in a story about her saying “hooka looka mooka hooka fooka” on air back in June.

She has repeatedly defended herself by saying she was not mocking Polynesian names and was actually referencing to a past Continuous Call Team story about Chris and Ray Warren.

The Daily Mail’s defence was filed on Monday and contains transcripts of 24 conversations on Continuous Call Team dating back to March 2017.

It involves Molan and past and present co-hosts Ray Hadley, Bob Fulton, Darryl Brohman and others.

One excerpt dating back to April 1, 2017, hears Hadley saying, “And now, why don’t we have a conversation with Darryl doing his Chinese and Erin doing her Chinese?”

“Herro, I wery goo lookin,” Molan said, according to the defence.

“Just do one for me, ‘I love you long time’, just do that for me,” Hadley said.

“I wuv you wery long tiyme, wery handsome man, ohhh, you like to walk with me in a cercle,” Ms Molan said.

In another clip given by the defence on March 17, 2018, Hadley tells a story about women in Japan giving birth.

“You like raw feesh,” Molan said. “Sorry, was that racist?”

“Yeah … it wasn’t good,” Fulton said.

“Was it really? No it wasn’t, ’cause they do,” Molan said.

According to the defence, Molan sometimes participated in the conversations.

The defence also said that at times she laughed along, stayed silent, or asked “in a humorous fashion” whether what had been said was racist.

In another excerpt from August 24, 2019, Brohman states he is going to release a Chinese cookbook.

“Gonna put a big nappy on so I look like a sumo and say, ‘Come and get it! Big Marn’s Chinese Cookbook!’,” he allegedly said.

“Herro! That’s gonna be the name of the book,” Brohman said later.

“I just don’t know if this is OK now in this day and age,” Molan said.

“Oh, who cares,” Fulton responded.

Later in the conversation, the defence claims Molan said “Now we’re all talking like ohhh … you no … bad boy … you naughty … dwop your pen … pick up your chopstick” in an accent.

“Can I just throw something in here? Do we like working here? I don’t think we’re gonna have a big chance of being here next year,” Fulton said.

“I know we like to toe the line but this might be like a whole heel over the line,” Molan said.

“No, no, we’re right,” Mark Levy said.

The defence also included another transcript from March 18, 2017, in which Brohman put on several accents, including Irish, American, Chinese, Japanese, and Indian.

Molan said: “Someone will write in now and say we’re being racist. I think it’s hilarious.”

The defence also includes transcripts of Brohman who recounted the story about Chris and Ray Warren.

It is the story that Molan said she was referencing with her original comment.

“It was last year at a Manly game and they had a reserve that I hadn’t seen before, but he had a name with about 30 letters in it, and I had trouble pronouncing it, and I said to Chris, ‘Mate, how do you pronounce this bloke’s name?’” Brohman said on April 5, 2020.

“He said, ‘Well, Dad thought his name was Chooka-lucka-loo-loo, but I said no, no, no, Dad, I think it’s Chooka-lucka-loo-loo-loo-loo.’”

Audio of the conversations remain publicly available online.

In the defence, the Daily Mail claims these conversations prove Molan is racist.

Molan also accused the Daily Mail of falsely stating she refused to apologise when she says she had in fact apologised on air.

In the defence, the media outlet said it was not “a true apology” and she had “simply stated that if people ‘in the current climate’ had been offended or hurt by her that she was sorry”.

The major brawl brewing over Bob Hawke's will

Former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke’s daughter and his widow are currently battling it out over his multi-million dollar will.

His daughter, Rosslyn Dillion, is preparing to take legal action against Blanche d’Alpuget and let her stepmother know of her intentions in a tense phone call.

The contestation of the will comes after Dillon discovered that after the payout of $750,000, which includes the proceeds of the $15 million sale of a Northbridge home, there are no further provisions for his three children in the will.

The rest of the estate will be going to d’Alpuget, his wife and biographer, according to The New Daily.

The current arrangement that was struck up separately to Mr Hawke’s will has his three children, Susan Pieters-Hawke, Stephen Hawke and Rosslyn Dillon being awarded around $750,000 immediately upon his death in a payment from d’Alpuget.

The payment was also awarded to d’Alpuget’s son, Louis Pratt, upon the death of Mr Hawke.

Rosslyn Davis talking to ABC's 7:30

Unless a private agreement is struck between the parties, the matter will proceed to the NSW Supreme Court. It will be on the grounds of inadequate family provision.

Mr Hawke’s three children were estranged from their stepmother for many years after their father remarried in 1995, but had repaired the relationship in recent years.

However, there was a hint of family issues at the memorial of Mr Hawke, as d’Alpuget mentioned his “eldest daughter Sue Pieters-Hawke” twice in her speech but did not mention her two siblings.

d’Alpuget also hinted at family issues in her book Hawke: Prime Minister as she outlined that Rosslyn first ran away from home as a 15-year-old schoolgirl. She was later found by her father and his friend in a drug den in Sydney.

Bob Hawke and Blanche d'Alpuget at the book launch of Hawke: The Prime Minister

“It was obvious to everyone who knew Rosslyn and her husband, who partied with the Brett and Wendy Whiteley crowd, that they were using heroin; everyone, that is, except her parents, who clung steadfastly to the belief that their daughter did not use hard drugs,” d’Alpuget wrote.

“The news from the hospital in the first week of August that the new mother was so wasted by heroin she could soon be dead fell on Hawke like a blow from an axe.”

In 2011, there was also reports of an “airport brawl” between Sue Pieters-Hawke and d’Alpuget.

“I approached her to say a friendly hello, but she slapped me hard three or four times, and yes, I was shaken,” Ms Pieters-Hawke said to ABC’s 7:30.
