Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip release stunning portrait to mark 70th wedding anniversary

Great-grandma celebrates 60th anniversary in her original wedding dress

<p>Eighty-year-old Janith Goedde surprised her family by wearing her wedding gown to celebrate her 60th anniversary.</p> <p>She purchased the dress six decades ago for only US$69.</p> <p>Her granddaughter, Alison Goedde, uploaded a photo of her beaming grandmother in the lace gown to Twitter. </p> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr">My grandma is 80, she just celebrated 60 years with her man, AND she fits in her wedding dress. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Goals?src=hash">#Goals</a> <a href="https://t.co/QcEiAVBEho">pic.twitter.com/QcEiAVBEho</a></p> — Alison Goedde (@AliRenae) <a href="https://twitter.com/AliRenae/status/858871133990510594">May 1, 2017</a></blockquote> <p>Alison wrote, “My grandma is 80, she just celebrated 60 years with her man, AND she fits in her wedding dress.”</p> <p>Janith was ecstatic that she still fit into the dress for the special occasion.</p> <p>"I've lost 40 pounds. And it shows," she told <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Lifestyle/great-grandmother-80-celebrates-60th-anniversary-vintage-6995/story?id=47203030" target="_blank">ABC News</a></strong></span>. "Everybody comments to me on it. When we came home that evening, one of the girls said, 'I bet she can still get in her wedding gown. Where's it at?' I told them where it was in the attic and they went up there and got it. Janith claims there are two secrets to her long-lasting relationship with Joe.</p> <p>"Communication and prayer," she said. "We're looking forward to more anniversaries, but we'll take what comes. We'll stick it out together." </p>
