William Tyrrell’s birth mother speaks out for the first time

William Tyrrell’s biological mother Karlie Tyrrell has spoken out for the first time about her son’s abduction three-and-a-half years ago.

On Channel 7’s Sunday Night program, the 29-year-old gave an emotional interview as she explained what she thinks happened to her son since his 2014 abduction when he was just three years old.

During the interview, Karlie targeted William’s foster parents and grandmother who were with him when he was taken from his grandmother’s Kendall home, however, Karlie also said that she felt like the “worst mum in the world”.

Karlie revealed that she still believes William is alive and “whoever has him needs a bullet”.

“Don’t hurt him. Just let him come home. He hasn’t even met his little brother yet. That’s not fair, it’s just not fair,” she said.

Karlie, who also parents two other children with William’s biological father Brendan Collins, discussed the horrific moment when she found out that her son had disappeared.

She was eight months pregnant and returning from a shopping trip when police arrived at her Sydney home.

“Police were knocking on the door asking where William was. I was in shock,” she said.

“They asked if William was here ... William’s not even in my care. I don’t know why you’re coming to ask me.”

Karlie said the officers “had a look around” but said they didn’t do a detailed search for William.

“They could have looked a bit better. Not that I did have him, but their police skills were not very high standards,” she said.

She said that when she heard the news her only reaction was shock.

“I didn’t cry, I didn’t have any reaction,” she said.

Karlie explained how many people believed she was involved in William’s disappearance and broke down crying “no” when asked if she had any involvement.

When asked what she thought happened to William, Karlie said that she believes he is out there but didn’t want to speculate.

“Where else could he be?” she asked. “I feel like whoever has him needs a bullet.”

Karlie also gave an emotional message to William through the camera that made her interviewer Melissa Doyle tear up.

“I love you so much. I miss you,” she said.

Karlie admitted that she had “made bad choices” in the past which resulted in William being removed from her care.

“I wasn’t ready, I guess. I wanted to do everything I could to be the best mum I could be. So I did everything and yeah, I’m still trying to do everything I can. But I don’t know what else to do,” she said.

“I want this to end and William to come home,” she said.

Karlie has recently made headlines after appearing in court on an assault police charge.

She pleaded guilty to spitting in the face of a female police officer at a shopping centre in January.

She has also been charged with possession of cannabis, which police found in her western Sydney home.
