Peter Andre announces baby daughter's name

<p>One month after the birth of his daughter, Peter Andre has finally shared his new baby's name. </p> <p>The announcement comes four weeks after Andre and his Emily MacDonagh shared the news of their daughter's arrival, while admitting to their fans they were <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/lifestyle/family-pets/help-name-our-baby-peter-andre-s-extraordinary-plea" target="_blank" rel="noopener">struggling</a> to find a name. </p> <p>Emily picked out the name of their daughter, as Peter took to Instagram to share the news. </p> <p>"I think you've chosen a beautiful name, [Emily]. Mum and daughter are doing amazing."</p> <p>However, he shared an unusual plea with his followers as he shared that the couple were having difficulty coming up with a name for their bub. </p> <p>"As parents, we couldn't be happier. Only thing is…. she has no name yet. Peter Stefanovic slammed for "harsh" question to young million-dollar winner

<p>Peter Stefanovic has been slammed online for bringing up a past crime committed by the 19-year-old, who had his life change overnight when he won $1 million. </p> <p>Keegan Payne was fishing in the Northern Territory when he <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/travel/domestic-travel/this-is-crazy-teenager-goes-fishing-and-emerges-a-millionaire" target="_blank" rel="noopener">caught</a> a barramundi worth $1 million, that was part of a years-long fishing competition in the Top End. </p> <p>While dong the media rounds to celebrate his life-changing win, Keegan spoke with Stefanovic on <em>Sky News</em>, who chose to focus on a petty crime Keegan committed when he was just 16-years-old, cutting the joy of his win short. </p> <p>"There is a claim online that you stole a Polaris Ranger and Polaris quad that you and your friends stole and damaged from a business a few years back, first of all, is that true?" Stefanovic asked from his <a id="mol-c0669630-0788-11ef-a01a-6393dcd80371" href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/sydney/index.html" target="_self">Sydney</a> studio during the live interview.</p> <p>Payne, who was speaking from the Darwin, simply answered, "Yes".</p> <p>"So, what happened?" Mr Stefanovic pressed.</p> <p>Payne explained he and his friends "were young", and "weren't thinking at the time" but having come up with the idea they "went for it".</p> <p>Stefanovic asked Payne if he regretted the act and he said he did "big time".</p> <p>Social media users were quick to condemn Stefanovic's line of questioning to the teenager, saying he chose to cut him down on live TV, rather than celebrate his success. </p> <p>One person wrote online, "Reporter hears good news. Does everything they can to dig up dirt and be negative. He made a mistake and took the fall out for it and was forgiven way before this win!"</p> <p>Another simply said, "S***ty reporting as usual", while others asked why people couldn't "just be happy for this kid?"</p> <p>"No one's perfect, but to shame him on tv? Talk about rip the carpet from beneath him! Peter Dutton defends comparing pro-Palestine rally to Port Arthur massacre

<p>Peter Dutton has doubled down on controversial comments he made comparing a pro-Palestine rally to the Port Arthur massacre in 1996. </p> <p>The leader of the opposition sparked fierce criticism fort he remarks he made when discussing the rise of anti-Semitism in Australia as the Israel-Palestine war rages on. </p> <p>He compared a pro-Palestine protest that took place outside Sydney Opera House on October 9th, just days after the first attacks by Hamas, to the deadly massacre in Tasmania in which 35 people were killed which prompted major gun reforms in Australia under the Howard government.</p> <p>Dutton later repeated the comments, insisting Mr Howard’s response had been “strong” and claimed Mr Albanese has not done enough to stem the rise in anti-Semitism.</p> <p>The Opposition Leader appeared on <em>Today</em> on Friday morning where he again defended his comments when asked if he had gone too far with the comparison. </p> <p>“The point I was making, which is absolutely a legitimate one, is that I thought this was a time for the Prime Minister (Anthony Albanese) to show leadership and to step up,” Mr Dutton said.</p> <p>“I think, with John Howard, who stood up at a point of national importance for our country, demonstrated leadership and changed the course of history for the better. The Prime Minister has allowed this rise of anti-Semitism in our country.”</p> <p>“I don’t resile from that at all.”</p> <p>Mr Dutton’s fury was sparked by comments made by the Foreign Minister Penny Wong in her own speech earlier this week, which left the door open for Australia to back Palestinian statehood in the UN. </p> <p>“Penny Wong never went to cabinet with this proposal. It’s not agreed to by the Palestinian leaders here in Australia,” he said. </p> <p>Government Services Minister Bill Shorten then chimed in on the debate, arguing there was nothing new in Senator Wong’s comments as the war in Palestine continued to claim thousands of innocent lives. </p> <p>“Labor has had as its policy for a very long time, the whole time I’ve been a member of the Labor Party, support for a two state solution,” he told Nine. </p> <p>But he said it was a grave mistake to conflate Port Arthur with the “unacceptable” rise in anti-Semitism.</p> <p>“I think probably if he had his time again in the privacy of his own head, he would probably not do (that),” Mr Shorten said. </p> <p>“They’re two separate issues. Port Arthur was a shocking, murderous, evil act in Australia. And John Howard certainly spoke up about it."</p> <p>“I think Peter, you know, has got to make his point. That’s his job. But I think he should work with the Prime Minister to call out inflammatory language here.”</p> <p>Mr Dutton went on to clarify he was just trying to make a parallel between the two leaders’ responses. </p> <p>“John Howard stood up for our country at a time when he needed moral clarity. <p>The motorsport community is mourning the loss of Bev Brock, a formidable figure whose unwavering support and dedication were instrumental in the legendary career of her former long-time partner, Peter Brock.</p> <p>Bev, aged 77, passed away at her Melbourne home on Sunday morning after bravely battling stage 4 cancer for two years.</p> <p>For almost three decades, Bev stood as a steadfast presence by Peter's side, both on and off the racetrack. While they were never married, their bond was undeniable, marking a partnership that transcended mere labels. From 1977 until their separation in 2005, Bev played an integral role in shaping Peter's remarkable motorsport journey, becoming synonymous with his successes and enduring legacy.</p> <p>Born on January 15, 1947, just outside Perth, Bev's early years hinted at the strength of character and resilience that would define her life. Among seven siblings, she cultivated a spirit of determination and compassion that would later leave an indelible mark on those around her. Following her passion for education, Bev pursued a career in teaching, imparting knowledge in science and home economics to countless students.</p> <p>Bev's life took a new trajectory when she met Peter Brock. Together, they navigated the highs and lows of motorsport, sharing a journey that was as exhilarating as it was demanding. Despite the challenges, Bev remained a pillar of support, balancing multiple roles with grace, intelligence and purpose. Her commitment to Peter's racing career was unwavering, whether she was managing logistics, offering counsel, or simply cheering from the sidelines.</p> <p>Beyond her contributions to motorsport, Bev's philanthropic endeavours reflected her generous spirit and compassionate nature – and her involvement with various charities culminated in the prestigious Order of Australia in 2016. <p>Peter Garrett has taken aim at Taylor Swift, calling out her extrationate ticket prices for a place at the Eras Tour. </p> <p>The Midnight Oil frontman  joined <em>107.1 SAFM’s Bec & Soda</em> radio show on Friday when he was informed that he was co-host Mark “Soda” Soderstrom’s favourite artist, or in other words, “his Taylor Swift.”</p> <p>Garrett didn't take too kindly to the comparison, and launched into a rant about the price of Swift's concert tickets. </p> <p>“I’m not price gouging like Taylor, to be blunt,” he began.</p> <p>The radio hosts reminisced about attending a Midnight Oil concert in 1985 when tickets were just $15.90, compared to Swifts forking out hundreds of dollars for the highly anticipated Eras Tour. </p> <p>Tickets for Swift’s Australian tour ranged from $79.90 for G-reserve tickets to $379.90 for A-reserve ticket, while also offering fans multiple VIP packages, reaching an eye-watering $1249.90 for a single ticket. </p> <p>Some diehard fans were quick to complain about the lack of added value in the packages, which included premium seats with add-ons such as a tote bags, collectable pins, stickers and postcards.</p> <p>Garrett continued, “I wouldn’t begrudge anyone’s success, that’s the first thing to say."</p> <p>"She’s obviously touching a chord with masses of people, particularly people of a certain age group who have experienced growing up at a certain time, and what she’s singing and talking about is really ringing true with them.” </p> <p>However, he also said that “the dollar end of it having looked at it from a distance, having been in this business forever, is pretty brutal.”</p> <p>Garrett continued to share his disapproval of Swift's Australian domination, complaining about how five of her albums dominated the ARIA charts, booting Aussie artists off the ladder. </p> <p>“She is so pervasive, she has become such a phenomenon, that she is displacing artists left right and centre. In our ARIA top 100 chart – that’s the Australian record industry chart – I think at one point in the last week or two, we only had three Australian artists in that top 100,” Garrett said. </p> <p>“Not good enough! And that’s not me crying about it, I’ve had an incredible run. Peter Dutton calls for Woolworths boycott

<p>Peter Dutton has urged Aussies to boycott Woolworths, after the supermarket giant <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/finance/money-banking/woolworths-under-fire-for-dropping-australia-day-merch" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> their decision to not stock any Australia Day merchandise. </p> <p>The opposition leader lashed out at the "woke" decision, and took aim at Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci on 2GB radio on Thursday. </p> <p>"I think it's up to customers whether they want to go in and buy the product or not. If they don't want to celebrate Australia Day, well that's a decision for them, but I think people should boycott Woolworths," he told Nine's <em>2GB</em> radio.</p> <p>"Other companies haven't done it (stopped selling Australia Day merchandise) and on that basis, I think Australians should boycott Woolworths."</p> <p>"I think Brad Banducci should come out and announce that he's reversing the decision."</p> <p>“I think the prime minister, frankly, needs to call it out because these CEOs do believe that by making these crazy decisions, somehow they’re signing up to the woke agenda of Anthony Albanese.”</p> <p>Dutton's comments were echoed by <em>The Project</em> panellist Steve Price, who launched into a tirade about the supermarket giant's decision on Thursday night. </p> <p>"Here we go again, more woke lecturing from corporate Australia," an outraged Price said of the "dumb" ban.</p> <p>He went on to point out that "Woolworths is a South African company by the way. Peter Stefanovic and Sylvia Jeffreys list multimillion-dollar home

<p dir="ltr">TV presenter power couple Peter Stefanovic and Sylvia Jeffreys have listed their Double Bay terrace for sale. </p> <p dir="ltr">The couple placed their home on the market for $4.5 million, as they start the search for a bigger and better family home for them and their two sons. </p> <p dir="ltr">The four-bedroom terrace with two-and-a-half bathrooms in Epping Rd is scheduled to go under the hammer on August 22nd with a $4.5m price guide via Oliver Lavers of The Rubinstein Group.</p> <p dir="ltr">Stefanovic, a co-host of <em>First Edition</em> on Sky News Australia, and Jeffreys, co-host of <em>Today Extra</em> on Channel 9, had bought the home on a 186 sqm block for $2.7m in 2016.</p> <p dir="ltr">In their seven years at the home, the couple have made a range of improvements including adding off-street parking, and created an impressive outdoor entertainment area with inbuilt seating and barbecue in the rear courtyard.</p> <p dir="ltr">The impressive property boasts open plan living areas, polished timber floors, marble finishes in the kitchen, and underfloor heating in the bathrooms. </p> <p dir="ltr">Two master-sized bedrooms open to balconies, alongside a third on the upper floor, and a versatile fourth bedroom could serve as an office.</p> <p dir="ltr">The couple met in 2014 when they were both colleagues at Channel Nine - she was working on <em>The Today Show</em> while he was a foreign correspondent for <em>Nine News</em>, and they bumped into each other in the station’s carpark. </p> <p dir="ltr">Two years later in 2016, Stefanovic popped the question in a French vineyard, and they were married the following year in Kangaroo Valley.</p> <p dir="ltr">The couple have two sons - Oscar, who was born in early 2020 and Henry, who arrived a little more than a year later.</p> <p dir="ltr">With their sons growing up and needing more space, the family are looking for a bigger home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. </p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image credits: realestate.com.au / Instagram</em></p>

New-look Peter Helliar tells all after I'm a Celeb exit

<p dir="ltr">Peter Helliar, the latest<em> I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!</em> evictee, has opened up about his final months before quitting <em>The Project</em> and his dramatic weight loss, in one of his first interviews since leaving the jungle.</p> <p dir="ltr">Speaking to <em>B105’s</em> Stav, Abby and Matt on Wednesday morning, Peter revealed that he had lost 7.5kgs, after spending three weeks in the jungle surviving on rationed rice and beans.</p> <p dir="ltr">“[I lost] 7.5kg - it's what I've registered, so I'm not sure if I have caught up with Nick,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">The comedian also explained that leaving the camp wasn’t as easy as he expected, with all the rigorous health examinations he’s had to do.</p> <p dir="ltr">“You come out and you have this idea that you will go to a nice hotel and have a beer, but you come out and meet with a psych and a medical team to make sure everything is okay” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“So there's a series of meetings that you have to go through, so I haven't really stopped since I've come out. I had some dinner and rang home and that's about it,” he added.</p> <p dir="ltr">Peter also shared that the first meal he ate after leaving the jungle was a bowl of spaghetti bolognese with a beer.</p> <p dir="ltr">The comedian was one of the few contestants who had been asked to appear on<em> I’m A Celebrity</em> since the first season. He’d always refused, using his role as a panellist on <em>The Project</em> as an excuse.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Whenever they did ask, I was a bit concerned they were trying to get me off The Project. I was wary of leaving the desk for too long,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">After<a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/entertainment/tv/peter-helliar-s-typically-hilarious-farewell" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> leaving <em>The Project</em> late last year</a>, Peter was approached again and this time thought "’Why not?’ I haven't got the excuse of the other job so I jumped at it and I had a great time”.</p> <p dir="ltr">Peter revealed that he decided to quit as he was “getting a little sick of being associated with the news cycle,” but didn’t blame it on the show.</p> <p dir="ltr">“That’s got nothing to do with the show, but just the way commentary goes these days. News has become pretty toxic, as far as the debate around news … I’m pretty happy to be going into some sillier, fun areas in the future,” he added.</p>

<p dir="ltr">Jess Rowe has shared the sneaky way she impressed her now-husband Peter Overton when they first met.</p> <p dir="ltr">The presenter and self-professed “crap housewife” sat down with Today Extra to talk about her new cookbook in collaboration with the Australian Women's Weekly, <em>Everyday Not-So-Crap Family Meals</em>, when she shared the lengths she went to in order impress the 9News presenter when they first started dating.</p> <p dir="ltr">"This was before I owned my crap housewife title, when I felt I had to be perfect," Jess said.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I think for some of us we feel like we have to have it all together all the time, so Pete was having a bit of a work dinner and he wanted to impress his 60 Minutes colleagues.”</p> <p dir="ltr">"So they came around to dinner and I thought 'what am I going to cook? I can't just serve up spag bol for something completely different.'"</p> <p dir="ltr">Rather than setting an unreasonable challenge for herself, Jess enlisted the help of her sister, a qualified chef, for the evening.</p> <p dir="ltr">"She cooked up a tagine, I still don't know what that is, but she made it for me with all of these other things," she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">"It was so delicious, but the problem was everyone thought it was so wonderful, they wanted the recipe."</p> <p dir="ltr">Jessica managed to fudge her way along telling them "a bit of this, a bit of that" when they asked what was in the meal, but they were persistent and really wanted to know how she did it.</p> <p dir="ltr">"I had to get my sister to email me the recipe the next day and I forwarded it on," she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">Now, after 19 years of marriage, the mother-of-two has improved slightly in the kitchen: enough to release <em>Everyday Not-So-Crap Family Meals</em>.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Image credits: Instagram</em></p>

Peter Stefanovic breaks silence on Karl vs. Michael fight

<p>Peter Stefanovic has lifted the lid on how his brother Karl is doing in the wake of the recent media storm surrounding his fight with Michael Clarke. </p> <p>The younger Stefanovic spoke on Nova FM’s <em>Fitzy and Wippa show</em> on Tuesday morning, sharing how Karl is holding up. </p> <p>“I think he’s going okay, yeah. Yeah, he’s hanging in there,” the <em>Sky News</em> host replied.</p> <p>However, when pressed by Fitzy on whether Karl’s long-standing friendship with the former cricket star was “over”, Peter was vague.</p> <p>“You never know how these things work out. You know, there’s ebbs and flows,” he told the hosts, before adding that Karl was in “(paparazzi) city” at the moment.</p> <p>“And it’s never a flattering photo they take, is it? It’s always mid-stride,” Peter joked.</p> <p>Karl is yet to comment on the public scuffle himself, while Michael Clarke issued a grovelling apology after the footage of the stoush quickly went viral. </p> <p>Earlier this week, he said in a statement to The Daily Telegraph, “I accept full responsibility for this altercation and am shattered by my actions.”</p> <p>“I’m absolutely gutted I’ve put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. Why Peter FitzSimons has defended Prince Harry

<p>Outspoken journo and author Peter FitzSimons has defended Prince Harry in the wake of the slew of intimate bombshell revelations the young royal’s memoir <em>Spare</em> has presented to the public. </p> <p>Mr FitzSimons, who is the husband of Lisa Wilkinson, responded firmly to a Twitter commenter who branded the prince a “sook” and a “weak man” who was effectively being “controlled by a manipulative woman” – stating that Harry’s wife Meghan Markle was in fact the direct cause for him “knifing his own family” with the release of <em>Spare</em>, and that “this is her revenge…using him to do the dirty work.”</p> <p>“That is way too simplistic, in my view,” wrote FitzSimons in response to the Twitter user.</p> <p>“His broad point is, "They have leaked against me and my wife for years. I am not leaking, I am putting my name to my views, and this is what happened." They have told several books worth, courtesy of the tabloid press. So, for once, he can tell his own story.”</p> <p>In response to a different Twitter user who asked why an “intelligent man” would waste time thinking about the royal family, FitzSimons further revealed his reasons for defending Prince Harry, suggesting that the fallout between the young prince and the rest of the royal family would almost certainly have implications in the Australian republic debate. </p> <p>“One reason is, the whole imbroglio speaks to the republic. The notion that this is a special family - put there by God to be so much better than the rest of us, that they must reign over us - is wearing a bit thin, yes?” he tweeted.</p> <p>Despite having stepped down as head of the Australian Republican Movement last October, FitzSimons continues to lobby for Australia to dispense with heads of state that lie within a royal family. </p> <p>On Tuesday morning Jan 10, Bill Shorten – Minister for Government Services for the Albanese government – also pushed for Australia to become a republic by saying on the Today show: “It's a shame to see a family bust-up but perhaps at the deepest level, why do we need to keep borrowing a dysfunctional British family to be the Head of State of Australia? </p> <p>'It's gossip but scintillating. Peter Helliar's typically hilarious farewell

<p dir="ltr">Peter Helliar has farewelled <em>The Project </em>just days after <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/entertainment/tv/carrie-bickmore-bids-farewell-to-the-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carrie Bickmore’s last day on the show</a>.</p> <p dir="ltr">The comedian, who has been on the show for a long eight years, went out in style by being the subject of jokes from co-star Waleed Aly, as well as thank you messages from guest hosts.</p> <p dir="ltr">Waleed reported on famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo mentioning that he had “barely worked and still got paid … They call that the Helliar Method, don’t they?”</p> <p dir="ltr">Tennis player and disability advocate Dylan Alcott thanked Peter for helping him appear on <em>The Project</em> regularly, saying he couldn’t have done it without him.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I remember the first time that we met: I went up to you and told you about my vision of mainstreaming disability in the media,” Dylan recalled.</p> <p dir="ltr">“A couple of weeks after that, you and I were sitting opposite each other on The Project desk. Peter Dutton reveals rare skin condition after "appearance shaming"

<p>Liberal MP Peter Dutton has revealed he suffers from a rare skin condition, following a <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/news/news/tanya-plibersek-apologises-for-likening-peter-dutton-to-voldemort" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slating</a> from Labor MP Tanya Plibersek, who likened him to Voldemort. </p> <p>Dutton said he is not "bald by choice" and blames his hair loss on an unnamed condition. </p> <p>Responding on Thursday to Plibersek’s comments, Dutton said while he’s “not pretty” he will be an effective Liberal leader.</p> <p>“Look, it’s water off a duck’s back,’’ he told <a href="https://www.2gb.com/peter-dutton-breaks-silence-on-voldemort-jab/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-link-type="article-inline">Ray Hadley on 2GB.</a></p> <p>“You read all that sort of stuff online ... in the sewer of Twitter all the time, and I think it’s unfortunate."</p> <p>“But, you know, she’s apologised for that. We live in the best country in the world.”</p> <p>Tanya Plibersek apologised to Peter Dutton for likening him to the Harry Potter villain in a recent radio interview when asked of her opinion of the Liberal MP. </p> <p>Speaking to Scott Emerson on the 4BC radio station, Ms Plibersek said, "Well I think there will be a lot of children who have watched a lot of Harry Potter films who will be very frightened of what they will see at night, that's for sure." </p> <p> </p> <p>"What, are you saying he looks strange, he looks odd?" <p>Senior Labor MP Tanya Plibersek has apologised to Liberal MP Peter Dutton for likening him to Voldermort in a radio interview. </p> <p>Speaking to Scott Emerson on the 4BC radio station, Ms Plibersek was asked her opinion of Mr Dutton, who is almost certain to become the next leader of the Liberal party. </p> <p>"Well I think there will be a lot of children who have watched a lot of Harry Potter films who will be very frightened of what they will see at night, that's for sure," replied the Labor frontbencher. </p> <p>"What, are you saying he looks strange, he looks odd?" Emerson asked.</p> <p>"I am saying he looks a bit like Voldemort and we will see whether he can do what he promised he would do when he was last running for leader, which is smile more," she said. </p> <p>Mr Emerson said it sounded like she was attacking Mr Dutton over his looks. </p> <p>"No, I am just saying he is not the warm and friendly face of the Liberal party," she replied. </p> <p>"And if this last election taught us anything, it taught us that the Liberal Party has moved too far to the extremes of politics."</p> <p>Plibersek has since reached out to Dutton to apologise for her comments, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese saying her remarks were unacceptable. </p> <p>"I do want to change the way that politics functions in this country," Albo said.</p> <p>"People do have conflict fatigue."</p> <p>Plibersek is not the only Labor politician to attack the expected next Liberal leader this week, with Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan blasting Dutton as not being fit to be prime minister. </p> <p>"He's an extremist, and I don't think he fits with modern Australia at all," said Mr McGowan.</p> <p>"He doesn't seem to listen, he's extremely conservative and I actually don't think he's that smart."</p> <p>"I've seen him present on things [and] I don't really pick up there's much there."</p> <p>"As opposed to Scott Morrison, who is a clever guy, I don't pick up that Peter Dutton is fit to be prime minister."</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

Peter Dutton frontrunner for leader of Liberal Party

<p dir="ltr">As Anthony Albanese is sworn in as the 31st Prime Minister of Australia and announces his cabinet, the Liberal Party is now looking to vote for another person to lead the party in the opposition.</p> <p dir="ltr">Peter Dutton, former defence minister, has emerged as a likely candidate to lead the opposition for the next three years.</p> <p dir="ltr">A most-likely contender to run against Dutton would also be outgoing Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.</p> <p dir="ltr">Others that may put their name in the running include outgoing energy minister Angus Taylor, home affairs minister Karen Andrews and trade minister Dan Tehan.</p> <p dir="ltr">They are however not seen as a threat.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Until we have a field of candidates I don’t know who the leader will be but I can only assume Peter Dutton is in the ranks,” Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes told <a href="https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/peter-dutton-to-contest-leadership-of-liberal-party-angus-taylor-dan-tehan-and-karen-andrews-rivals/news-story/1359124cdc0d8dddd2229e4a0831b45d" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Daily Telegraph</a>.</p> <p dir="ltr">“He’s an absolute star performer and a terrific ­defence minister.</p> <p dir="ltr">“He, like Scott, has been unfairly maligned, but those of us who know him know what an amazing guy he is.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Former ABC political analyst Barrie Cassidy opposed the idea of Dutton leading opposition and that the party needs to move to the centre to win back seats.</p> <p dir="ltr">“That's a debate that will go on within the party now, and I think the answer to that probably depends on the leadership and who is the next leader of the party,” he said on The Project on Sunday.</p> <p dir="ltr">“The party has been going more to the right and more so by the minute.”<br />He explained that one of their issues is that they have a problem with women, climate change, and integrity.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Who are you going to call? Peter Dutton to fix those issues when he's ideologically opposed, not to women, but to the other issues. But if it's not him. Peter Overton’s “insult” to Miranda Kerr

<p dir="ltr">Peter Overton has made a hilarious mistake when describing Australian model Miranda Kerr.</p> <p dir="ltr">The Nine News anchor was speaking about Kerr and her husband, Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel, who paid the entire debt for 285 graduates at an art college in Los Angeles.</p> <p dir="ltr">When referring to Kerr, the veteran journalist said “Australian super mole” instead of “Australian supermodel”.</p> <p dir="ltr">Overton, 56, immediately noticed his slip of the tongue and corrected himself during the bulletin.</p> <p dir="ltr">The term “mole” or “moll” is an insulting word to describe a prostitute. </p> <p dir="ltr">Viewers picked up on Overton’s mistake and laughed about it online. </p> <p dir="ltr">“OMG did @PeterOverton just say what I thought he did! LOL #SuperMoll  Miranda Kerr? Ooooopsss…” one person wrote.</p> <p dir="ltr">“@9NewsSyd did Peter Overton just call Miranda Kerr a super mole ? lol Freudian slip,” another commented. </p> <p dir="ltr">“He’s been talking to Orlando Bloom,” another wrote in reference to Kerr’s ex husband. </p> <p dir="ltr">News of Kerr and Spiegel paying off the debt of 285 art students at Otis College of Art occurred during their graduation.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We know that for most of you and your families, the shared burden of student debt is a heavy price that you paid for an exceptional Otis College education,” college president Charles Hirschhorn said. </p> <p dir="ltr">“We understand that this debt can compromise your future and limit your creative ambitions. Peter Brock's childhood home sells at auction

<p>The childhood home of the late racing legend Peter Brock has sold at auction for $893,000.</p> <p>The three-bedroom weatherboard home in the Victorian suburb of Hurstbridge, 28km north-east of Melbourne, exceeded its price guide of $750,000 to $820,000.</p> <p>As three bidders battled for the property, a local couple won the bid, as Ciaran Brannigan, director of Morrison Kleeman Estate Agents, told <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/news/racing-champ-peter-brocks-childhood-home-comedian-shane-bournes-house-sells/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener">realestate.com.au</a>.</p> <p>The home was last on the market in 2006 when it was sold for just $337,000, decades after it belonged to the Brock family.</p> <p>Mr Brannigan said, "Definitely almost everybody mentioned it [the connection to Brock] but I don't think anyone was bidding because of that."</p> <p>The red-roofed cottage has bee renovated over the years, with both the kitchen and bathrooms being updated to a modern aesthetic. </p> <p>Features of the unique home include a large paved alfresco area ideal for outdoor entertaining, a free-standing studio and a sunny lounge area with a log-burning fireplace.</p> <p>Despite the up to date renovations, old-style charm has been maintained throughout the home with its decorative cornice work and tessellated tiles.</p> <p>Peter Brock first rose to fame in the 1970s when he won the six-hour endurance race for production cars at Mount Panorama Bathurst nine times between 1972 and 1987.</p> <p>He was soon dubbed King of the Mountain and maintained a high profile both as a competitor and commentator on Australian and New Zealand television.</p> <p>The Bathurst 1000 trophy was renamed the Peter Brock trophy one month after his death in 2006. </p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images / realestate.com.au</em></p>

Peter van Onselen reveals past abuse in debate with Grace Tame

<p dir="ltr"><em>Content warning: This article mentions paedophilia, child sexual abuse and rape.</em></p> <p dir="ltr">Grace Tame has called out Peter van Onselen, after the pair engaged in a heated conversation on Twitter that saw him disclose that he was also a victim of child sexual abuse.</p> <p dir="ltr">Van Onselen previously wrote in <em>The Australian </em>that he was “lucky” to not be abused by a notorious paedophile he had gained the attention of, and has now said that wasn’t the case.</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-efd29e63-7fff-4e4d-1ca1-6027eb4c3f72"></span></p> <p dir="ltr">The conversation was sparked by van Onselen commenting on a separate tweet by Dr Gemma Carey, suggesting that her family being banned from the GP clinic they had been seeing for a long time was “a sign that you’re a complete pain in the arse”.</p> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">That’s how I felt when as a survivor myself of child sexual abuse (he was convicted) she accused me of being a threat to my wife. Thanks for all your support.</p> <p>— Peter van Onselen 🎣 (@vanOnselenP) <a href="https://twitter.com/vanOnselenP/status/1509487096087838722?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 31, 2022</a></p></blockquote> <p dir="ltr">Grace Tame retweeted a screenshot of his comment with the caption, “When you victimise a vulnerable person, that’s a pretty good sign too.”</p> <p dir="ltr">This prompted van Onselen to say he was a victim of child sexual abuse from a person who was convicted at the time that he shared his story to police.</p> <p dir="ltr">Tame replied noting that the person who he said abused him hadn’t been convicted of crimes against him, writing that “co-opting other survivors’ experiences is a whole new low, mate”.</p> <p dir="ltr">Van Onselen also said Tame forced him to make the disclosure after she accused him of co-opting the stories of other victims of the same person.</p> <p dir="ltr">“You have made me say this which is incredibly distressing but there you go,” he wrote. “The police knew of three other boys he raped who didn’t want to testify. I was one of them.”</p> <p dir="ltr"><span id="docs-internal-guid-c9360548-7fff-98c4-be3f-6ea3a0913765"></span></p> <p dir="ltr">“I was going off your own words, Peter. You are responsible for when and what you publicly disclose, not me. I spoke to the police about exactly that as my abuser was being sentenced. Please stop shaming me for not having your courage to choose to go public.”</p> <p dir="ltr">“I have not shamed you, not once,” Tame replied. “You’re manipulating this entire situation. I have pointed out exactly what I have known to be true.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Tame returned to Twitter on Friday morning to explain the situation.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I stood up for a friend whom Peter demeaned unsolicitedly,” she wrote.</p> <p dir="ltr">“He then used ‘convicted’ paedophilia survivorship as a defence, in a tweet he copied and pasted several times - to me a paedophilia survivor. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Prior, he publicly aserted me he was “not sexually abused”, so I called him out.”</p> <p dir="ltr"><span id="docs-internal-guid-6b4eeb3f-7fff-b3a1-9376-35d9f05c57ec"></span></p> <p dir="ltr">Earlier the same day, she asserted that every survivor “deserves to be heard and respected”, but that trauma shouldn’t “excuse bad behaviour”.</p> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">Every survivor of rape and abuse deserves to be heard and receive compassion. A teacher … tried to sexually assault me on a school trip.
