Julie Bishop and David Panton end their relationship

Julie Bishop has ended her eight-year long romance with David Panton.

The spilt comes only a week after the couple visited London together, where they dined with Prince Charles.

The former foreign minister first stepped out publicly with the property developer in 2014, with the pair pictured at countless events including the 2018 wedding of Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough.

The couple recently went to dinner in Sydney's CBD where Mr Panton apparently said the relationship had run its course.

Mr Panton, 61, met Ms Bishop, 65, while she was in the midst of her political career, serving as Australia's Minister of Foreign Affairs. The pair maintained a long-distance relationship for years.

Mr Panton, originally from Melbourne, previously ran a vineyard with his ex-wife and owned a pharmacy business before moving into the property development industry when he moved to Sydney in 2014, meeting Ms Bishop around this time.

In 2019, Ms Bishop went public about how she fell for the property developer and their bond over their love of health and fitness.

Mr Panton was often by her side as she travelled the world as the foreign minister, and the relationship remained strong despite being separated during Covid lockdown.

“I'm going to be focused on living in Manly and Melbourne for the foreseeable future,” Mr Panton said.

“I wish Julie all the best in her ongoing stellar career.”

Image: Getty

Looking at this colour can increase your optimism

Between the housing crisis, the Trump presidency and the imminent arrival of winter, if you're feeling a little glum then it's likely understandable.

However, Pantone hopes to give the world a much-needed pick-me-up with a new colour called “Natural Optimism” – a light shade of blue which has been created to give people a psychological boost.

Research conducted by British tea brand Twinning’s revealed that 12.8 million Britons don't feel optimistic in their day-to-day-lives. However, the same survey revealed that 56 per cent of people feel more optimistic when they see blue skies and 89 per cent believe that being outdoors makes them feel more optimistic about their lives.

"When you feel optimistic, the feeling is utterly contagious," Vicky Keena, head of brand at Twinings, said. "Optimism has a knock-on effect and when life feels brighter, we're more likely to make positive choices that make us feel good inside and out."

Using this information, Pantone designed the airy blue hue, known as Natural Optimism, to remind people of clear blue skies, blooming flowers and relaxing summer weather.

'While cool in temperature, blues – particularly the softer mid-tone shades – speak to spring and summer when all of nature’s colours are in full bloom,' Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Colour Institute, said.

"Natural Optimism, an airy and weightless blue shade with an undertone of sunny yellow warmth, uniquely conveys this feeling of delight."

How to incorporate Natural Optimism

Make your home’s decor more optimistic by subtly incorporating the mood-boosting blue into your home.

Start small by selecting pieces that can seamlessly fit into the decor you already have, for example, cushions, vases, candles and artwork. Go one step further by experimenting with various shades of blue to add depth.

Alternatively, you could take it one step further by using Natural Optimism (or a similar shade of paint) to create a mood-boosting feature wall to remind yourself of blue skies and summer as the weather gets cooler.

Written by Natalia Didovich. The home inspired by the 2017 colour of the year

Pantone and Airbnb have partnered up to create a sustainable house modelled entirely on 2017's Colour of the Year – Greenery.

Located in Clerkenwell, London, the rental is known as The 'Outside In' House. It was created by Pantone as "an antidote to January blues and to encourage all those who enter it to embrace 2017 with fresh optimism and excitement."

With a woodland-themed reception, an indoor greenhouse/dining room, a tented-nook for children and a garden bedroom with a mown lawn and topiaries, the newly renovated rental has been transformed into an indoor-outdoor oasis.

To check-in, guests simply knock on the eye catching Pantone 15-0343 Greenery front door and wait to be greeted by the house "groundskeeper" who will present them with a fresh green juice, colour-matched to Pantone's Greenery, before being taken on a tour of the space.

Since the bright green shade was selected as the Colour of the Year by Pantone's Colour Institute, plenty of products have been created in the stand-out hue; however, we don't think anyone else has used it throughout their entire house... yet.

We're certainly greenery with envy over whoever manages to score a night in this oasis.

To learn more or book the space, click here.

Written by Natalia Didovich.
