"Harper is my favourite Tilly": Matildas toddler steals the show

<p>In a heartwarming turn of events at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, the Matildas' post-game press conference took an unexpected twist when two-year-old Harper decided to steal the show.</p> <p>As her mother, Katrina Gorry, attempted to navigate the world of media interviews, young Harper had other plans, firmly establishing herself as the newest sensation in Australian football – or at least in press conference antics.</p> <p>With the Aussies securing their spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a resounding 10-0 victory over Uzbekistan, it seemed fitting that the youngest member of the team would make her mark in the spotlight. Sporting a yellow team jersey and adorned with Taylor Swift-esque friendship bracelets, little Harper made it clear that she was not to be ignored.</p> <p>As Alanna Kennedy patiently awaited her turn to address the media, Harper decided that the press conference desk was the perfect spot for her impromptu playdate. With a polite "bye bye" into the mic, she momentarily bid farewell before settling back down, much to the amusement of the room.</p> <p>Gorry, unable to contain her laughter, gracefully ushered her daughter away from the limelight, but not before receiving a wave and a cheerful "Byyyyeee" from the pint-sized press conference crasher.</p> <p>The Matildas, quick to embrace the adorable interruption, shared the sweet moment on social media, solidifying Harper's status as the unofficial mascot of the team. In a caption that perfectly captured the essence of the moment, they affectionately dubbed it "Crashing Lani's press conference," tagging Gorry for good measure.</p> <p>Fans took to the comments section to praise the Tilly Toddler, with one claiming "Harper is my favourite Tilly", and another declaring that "No offence, but I'd actually like to hear harpers press conference."</p> <p>As the Matildas look ahead to the Paris Olympics, one thing is for certain – they have a secret weapon in their midst, and her name is Harper.</p> <p>Images: Instagram</p>

"It's been a terrible year": Karl shares worried update on daughter's health

<p dir="ltr">A devastated Karl Stefanovic has revealed that his two-year-old daughter Harper has been struggling with her health for the past year.</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>The Today Show </em>co-host shares baby Harper, two, with his wife Jasmine after they married in 2018.</p> <p dir="ltr">Karl was speaking to top doctor Dr Nick Coatsworth and revealed on the breakfast program that his daughter has suffered through several illnesses in the past 12 months.</p> <p dir="ltr">“My daughter, Harper, she's been getting a lot of sicknesses. It's been a terrible year,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“She got crook last week with influenza. She has an asthma kind of thing now. But it's not asthma. It is helping. So a lot of kids are going through that at the moment, aren't they?”</p> <p dir="ltr">Dr Coatsworth explained that this was effect lockdowns and the country reopening for the respiratory illnesses attacking both children and adults.</p> <p dir="ltr">“A lot of kids, adolescents, adults... we've had this awful season of respiratory viruses. Almost certainly attributed to lack of human movement during lockdown, which of course we needed to do. But this is the price we pay,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">He also believes that by the time 2023 flu season rolls by, both adults and children alike will be better off.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Our immune system has evolved over millions of years. It's there to help us, it's there to protect us,” he said.</p> <p dir="ltr">“When we're exposed to viruses, it certainly makes us stronger for the future.”</p> <p dir="ltr">When it came to addressing Karl’s fear, Dr Coatsworth explained that some children will need asthma medication.</p> <p dir="ltr">“So, yes, some children and adults will need asthma medication for a short period of time, particularly for the post viral cough.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Back in June, a terrified Karl and Jasmine <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/health/caring/karl-stefanovic-s-daughter-rushed-to-hospital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rushed their daughter to hospital</a> after she woke up in a terrible condition.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Little Harpie, she went downhill. She just had a sniffle and a small cough. Then within six hours, we had her at the GP,” Karl said at the time.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We gave her Nurofen, Pandadol but her heartbeat went up to 200 and her temperature was at 40 in almost an instant. So it got a hold of her.</p> <p dir="ltr">“It was only because of a great GP she was able to get on top of it, straight into the ambulance, then to the hospital. Karl Stefanovic’s daughter rushed to hospital

<p dir="ltr">Karl Stefanovic has issued a grave warning to parents after his daughter was rushed to hospital in a terrible condition. </p> <p dir="ltr">The <em>Today</em> co-host teared up as he spoke about the terrifying ordeal which saw him and wife Jasmine rush two-year-old Harper to hospital.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Little Harpie, she went downhill. She just had a sniffle and a small cough. Then within six hours, we had her at the GP.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We gave her Neurofen, Pandadol but her heartbeat went up to 200 and her temperature was at 40 in almost an instant. So it got a hold of her. </p> <p dir="ltr">“It was only because of a great GP she was able to get on top of it, straight into the ambulance, then to the hospital. She was there overnight.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Karl said the reason he is speaking about the “really scary” incident is to remind people about our doctors and nurses doing it tough. </p> <p dir="ltr">“They're just so good at what they do, they were able to sort things out. But there's so many kids out there at the moment who are going through this.</p> <p dir="ltr">“There were literally thousands of parents in similar situations.</p> <p dir="ltr">“We are lucky it wasn’t more serious, and we were lucky we had good people around her.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Karl confirmed baby Harper is now doing much better.</p> <p dir="ltr">Associate Professor Margie Danchin, a paediatrician at the Royal Children's Hospital, said emergency departments were filled with worried parents and their sick children. </p> <p dir="ltr">"We don't want parents going to the emergency department waiting six to eight hours if they can go to their GP," she said.</p> <p dir="ltr">"If a child has breathing difficulty or any blueness around the lips, or any signs of dehydration - if they're not drinking, if they're listless, pale, those are the things that should encourage a parent to take their child to the emergency department.</p> <p dir="ltr">"But if the child has a fever, cough, runny nose, those sorts of more mild respiratory symptoms, then we would encourage them to access community care first."</p> <p dir="ltr"><em>Images: The Today Show</em></p>

Karl Stefanovic's mother finally meets her granddaughter Harper

<p>He’s previously spoken about his heartache that his mother, Jenny, has been unable to meet his baby daughter, Harper, due to the coronavirus pandemic.</p> <p>But on Thursday, Karl Stefanovic was finally able to introduce his little bundle of joy to his mother Jenny, 70.</p> <p>Taking to Instagram to share the heartwarming snap, Karl wrote: “My mum lives in Cairns. Karl Stefanovic shares adorable video of daughter Harper

<p>Karl Stefanovic and his brother Peter Stefanovic spent a day at the park with their kids Harper May and Oscar Hamilton.</p> <p>Karl, who shares Harper with wife Jasmine Yarbrough, gave viewers a glimpse into his life as a dad with a video of his daughter playing with her cousin.</p> <p>"I went to the park yesterday with my brother. We took the two little ones to the park, Harper and Oscar. One is eight months and the other is nearly five months," Stefanovic told his fill-in co-host Sylvia Jeffreys, who is married to Peter.</p> <p>In the video, Harper and Oscar can be seen rolling around together on a picnic blanket. At one point, Oscar tries to poke his cousin in the eye.</p> <p>"He's trying so hard to show Harper is backward crawling skills," Jeffreys joked after viewing the clip. "He had a fixation with her eyes too and whacking his finger in them," Karl replied.</p> <p>The host of the Today show is always sharing photos with his little one.</p> <p>Karl is also the father to Jackson, 21, Ava, 15, and River, 13.</p>

"Everything hurts": Touching gift for baby Harper leaves Karl lost for words

<p><span>Karl Stefanovic took a little over a week off of the <em>Today</em> show for the arrival of his daughter Harper May with wife Jasmine, and his return has been emotional for everyone.</span><br /><br /><span>The 45-year-old has found it difficult not to boast about his new bundle of joy.  When co-host Allison Langdon asked how he was feeling, Karl replied with a sharp yet honest response: "Everything hurts. I'm tired. Emotional."</span><br /><br /><span>"It felt very difficult waking up this morning only five minutes after changing a nappy, but it's like riding a bike, you just get used to it."</span><br /><br /><span>While he's been back on the Today show desk this week, it has still been a very emotional rollercoaster for Karl.</span><br /><br /><span>He was brought to tears when co-host Allison pulled out a gift for the newborn moments before the show ended on Tuesday.</span><br /><br /><span>"We think we should open it on air to share it with everyone, but we've been so excited for you guys," Allison said as she handed the wrapped parcel over.</span><br /><br /><span>Karl pulled out a white onesie branded with the Today logo and immediately joked, "I'm going to try to get into it."</span><br /><br /><span>"She's now officially part of the team," Allison added.</span><br /><br /><span>While Karl admitted she is still yet to grow into the onesie, he boasted like any proud father.</span><br /><br /><span>"She's so tiny, just three kilos of awesomeness," he said.</span><br /><br /><span>"Thank you to my Today show family, you're going to make me cry!" an emotional Karl added.</span><br /><br /><span>The arrival of Karl and Jasmine's daughter was announced by the Today show's Instagram page on May 2nd.</span></p>

Controversy over David Beckham’s photo with daughter

<p>The Beckham family have never shied away from showing public displays of affection for their kids.</p> <p>Almost a year ago, Victoria Beckham shared a picture of herself kissing their 5-year-old daughter Harper on the lips and David has recently shared a similar photo.</p> <p>The photo, uploaded to Instagram, shows David kissing Harper on the lips on their family vacation in Africa.</p> <p style="text-align: center;"><img width="500" height="503" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/37655/david-beckham1_500x503.jpg" alt="David Beckham1"/></p> <p>The caption reads, "Kiss for Daddy." </p> <p>The picture has caused a stir on Instagram with one user calling the kiss “weird” and “wrong”.</p> <p>Another Instagram user wrote, “Why do this? We don't need to see it.”</p> <p>"On the lips? What has the world come to?" added another.</p> <p>Despite the negative remarks, there have also been a stream of positive reactions to the picture.</p> <p>“Just beautiful. Be proud of your bond!" one person wrote.</p> <p>"How beautiful is this wonderful picture of the love between a father and his daughter!" another user said. Harper Lee, author of To Kill A Mockingbird, has died

<p class="body-el-text standard-body-el-text">Harper Lee, author of <em>To Kill A Mockingbird</em>, has died. Her publisher, HarperCollins, confirmed the news to <em>The New York Times </em>on Friday February 19. She was 89 and lived in her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama.</p> <p class="body-el-text standard-body-el-text"><span>In a statement, Lee's family said, "The family of Nelle Harper Lee, of Monroeville, Alabama, announced today, with great sadness, that Ms. Lee passed away in her sleep early this morning. Her passing was unexpected. She remained in good basic health until her passing. The family is in mourning and there will be a private funeral service in the upcoming days, as she had requested."</span></p> <p class="body-el-text standard-body-el-text">Lee, who was born Nelle Harper Lee in 1926, won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1961 for <em>To Kill A Mockingbird</em>, which was adapted into a beloved film starring Gregory Peck. After that, Lee stopped publishing her fiction for decades, living a reclusive live in Alabama. She was only seen in public on rare occasions, in which she received awards or honorary degrees.</p> <p> </p>

Harper Lee to release second novel 50 years after To Kill a Mockingbird

<p>Fifty years after&nbsp;<em>To Kill A Mockingbird</em>&nbsp;was published, the world-famous iconic novel is set to get a sequel – <em>Go Set A Watchman</em>. The 304-page book will be published by Harper Collins. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.</p><p>Interestingly, the sequel was written a long time ago by author Harper Lee and was, until now, thought to have been lost.&nbsp;</p><p>Since 1960 when The Pulitzer-winning&nbsp;<em>To Kill a Mockingbird</em>&nbsp;was published it has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide.</p><p>Set to be release in July, Harper Collins is planning a first printing of two million copies of&nbsp;<em>Go Set A Watchman</em>.</p><p>Lee said she had originally written&nbsp;<em>Go Set A Watchman</em>&nbsp;but, after advice from her editors, who were more interested in the flashbacks to the character Scout's youth, was persuaded to write another book, which became&nbsp;<em>To Kill A Mockingbird</em>.</p><p>Scout, also known as Jean Louise Finch, is the book’s narrator, looking back on the events of her youth as an older woman.</p><p>“I hadn't realised it had survived,” Lee said in a statement issued by Harper Collins. “So was surprised and delighted when my dear friend and lawyer Tonja Carter discovered it.</p><p>“After much thought and hesitation I shared it with a handful of people I trust and was pleased to hear that they considered it worthy of publication. I am humbled and amazed that this will now be published after all these years.”</p><p><em>Go Set A Watchman</em>&nbsp;is, like <em>To Kill A Mockingbird,</em> also set in Maycomb, roughly 20 years after the events of the first book.</p><p>A summary from the publisher says: “Scout has returned to Maycomb from New York to visit her father, Atticus. She is forced to grapple with issues both personal and political as she tries to understand her father's attitude toward society, and her own feelings about the place where she was born and spent her childhood.”&nbsp;</p><p>Publisher Jonathan Burnham said: “This is a remarkable literary event. The existence of&nbsp;<em>Go Set A Watchman</em>&nbsp;was unknown until recently, and its discovery is an extraordinary gift to the many readers and fans of&nbsp;T<em>o Kill A Mockingbird</em>. Reading in many ways like a sequel to Harper Lee's classic novel, it is a compelling and ultimately moving narrative about a father and a daughter's relationship, and the life of a small Alabama town living through the racial tensions of the 1950s.”</p>
