"How could he do it to me?": Grandmother broken over grandson's alleged fraud

<p>In a courtroom in Perth, emotions ran high as a heartbroken grandmother awaited a reunion with her grandson, Jack Endersby. But this wasn't a typical family gathering. It was a courtroom confrontation, where Lyn Newby hoped her grandson would look her in the eye and confront the pain he allegedly caused by defrauding her of more than $320,000.</p> <p>Endersby, a 24-year-old <a href="https://www.9news.com.au/national/perth-news-grandmother-lost-320000-after-investing-in-grandson-business-alleged-ponzi-scheme/e3ea6396-750c-452c-8e87-c0ef53d65ede" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused of orchestrating a Ponzi-style scheme</a> that allegedly swindled around $2 million from victims across Australia, faced the scrutiny of the law and the anguish of his own family. She had entrusted her grandson with a substantial sum, believing it to be an investment in his trading business, Codex Investments. His promises of monthly returns seemed enticing, but when the payments abruptly ceased, Newby's world shattered.</p> <p>"He has ruined our lives," she lamented. "How could he do it to me? I'm his grandmother." </p> <p>Endersby's arrest earlier this month marked a turning point in the unravelling of his alleged scheme. Facing 11 charges of fraud, he appeared in Perth Magistrates Court, where his family, including his mother, sought answers and reconciliation. However, Endersby remained aloof, ignoring their attempts at communication.</p> <p>In the lead-up to his court appearance, Newby expressed her desire for her grandson to acknowledge the pain he caused. "He will feel terrible when he sees me, and I want him to look me in the eye and know how much he's hurt me," she said, her anguish palpable.</p> <p>The allegations against Endersby paint a stark contrast to his earlier life. Michael Dawson, who invested in Endersby's business 18 months prior, described initial returns followed by a troubling silence. Others spoke of referral schemes that seemingly built trust but ultimately ensnared unsuspecting investors in a web of deceit.</p> <p>Amid the courtroom drama and legal proceedings, questions linger about the true extent of Endersby's alleged scheme and the lives it impacted. Robert De Niro’s grandson's official cause of death confirmed

<p>Robert De Niro’s grandson Leandro De Niro Rodriguez’s cause of death has been confirmed. </p> <p>The 19-year-old died from a "toxic" combination of drugs, a New York City Medical Examiner told <em>Page Six</em> on Tuesday. </p> <p>Autopsy results revealed that the late teen had fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine and cocaine in his system at the time of his death, which has been ruled as an "accident". </p> <p>Sophia Marks, 20, has been arrested in connection to Leandro's overdose.</p> <p>According to criminal reports obtained by <em>Page Six</em>, the texts between Leandro and Marks allege that she had warned him about the fentanyl-laced pills, as they discussed the purchase of counterfeit oxycodone and Xanax just days before his death.</p> <p>Police also believe that Marks allegedly sold pills to children as young as 15. </p> <p>This comes just one month after De Niro’s daughter Drena claimed that her son passed away after a <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/health/caring/de-niro-s-daughter-reveals-her-son-s-cause-of-death" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tragic drug accident</a>. </p> <p>“Someone sold him fentanyl laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him,” she wrote in response to a comment on one of her posts at that time. </p> <p>“For all these people still f***ing around selling and buying this s**t, my son is gone forever,” she added. </p> <p>Drena who is still processing her grief, continues to post memories of her son, with the most recent one a heartbreaking tribute marking the first month since his passing.</p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; He further added, "We're greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo."</p> <p>At present, the cause of Leandro's death remains unknown, although reports suggest that drugs and drug paraphernalia were found near his body.</p> <p>Leandro was the son of Drena De Niro and graffiti artist Carlos "Mare139" Rodriguez. Carlos commented on Drena's social media post, expressing his heartfelt emotions:</p> <p>"Words aren't enough to express the joy he gave us or the loss we now endure with our families and friends. Queen Elizabeth's front line desires for her grandsons

<p>A former army chief has revealed Queen Elizabeth's desires for both her grandsons to serve on the front lines. </p> <p>A new documentary has revealed that the late monarch wanted both Prince Harry and Prince William to serve in Afghanistan because they "must do their duty". </p> <p>In the upcoming ITV documentary <em>The Real Crown: Inside the House of Windsor</em>, Former Army head General Sir Mike Jackson shared the details of a private conversation he had with Queen Elizabeth, breaking strict royal protocol by doing so. </p> <p>"What goes on in those audiences and who says what to whom remains for the two people involved, and I will break the rule about not divulging what goes on on this one occasion," Sir Mike told the five-part series.</p> <p>"She was very clear. She said, 'My grandsons have taken my shilling, therefore they must do their duty.' And that was that."</p> <p>Despite the Queen's wishes, Prince Harry was the only one of the brothers to go to Afghanistan, completing two tours of duty, during his 10 years the Army.</p> <p>Sir Mike went on to say that sending Prince William, the heir to the throne, into a war zone was too much for the Queen. </p> <p>"It was decided that William as heir to the heir, the risk is too great," he said.</p> <p>"But for his younger brother, the risk was acceptable."</p> <p>Mark Cann, director of the British Forces Foundation, told the documentary that despite the reservations of the Crown, Prince William was enthusiastic about serving his country. </p> <p>He said, "William was very keen to go. Unequivocally."</p> <p>"But it was complex, and some very great minds and experienced people took a view on it."</p> <p>"I think it was really tricky. Anybody who's in the military who hasn't actually been on operation feels a sense of disappointment."</p> <p>"And I think especially that was the one (war) at the time, you've got everyone around you at the time who's been involved in it. So there is a sense of disappointment."</p> <p>The series goes on to explore the Queen's extensive knowledge about what was happening on the battlefields, with the former head of MI6 Sir John Scarlett saying the monarch had "complete clearance to everything".</p> <p>"She has complete access to an exceptional amount of info and insight for longer than anyone else," Sir John said.</p> <p>"She's very, very discreet, completely reliable and completely on top of the detail."</p> <p>"I remember thinking at the time, 'Wow, Her Majesty knows more about this than we do'."</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

“Music somehow stays”: Great-grandma with dementia recalls lullaby in heartwarming moment with newborn great-grandson

<p>When Connie Lynn uploaded a touching video of her mother singing to her Instagram account, she didn’t expect it to reach so many people or to warm so many hearts. </p> <p>The clip features the moment 89-year-old Elinor Hanson got to hold her one-day-old great-grandson, Grayson. Elinor, who had been diagnosed with dementia years before but whose condition had worsened since 2020, delighted the whole family when she began to sing a beloved lullaby to the newborn. </p> <p>"Okay, it goes like this,” she tells the swaddled baby, before asking, “now, are you listening?" </p> <p>In the moments to follow, Elinor begins her heartfelt rendition, singing as she rocks him in her arms, “I love you, a bushel and a peck. A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap. A barrel and a heap and I'm talking in my sleep about you, about you, 'cause I love you.”</p> <p>A teary-eyed Elinor trails off to look up at the camera, and with an emotional chuckle tells her family, “I’m going to cry.” </p> <p>“Great grandma meeting and holding her newest great grandson and singing a song she sung to all the grandkids,” Connie Lynn captioned the post. </p> <p>“A song my kids know very well. I love you a bushel and a peck,” she continued, “this night made her so happy. It’s amazing how the brain can lose so much but music somehow stays. Brave grandmother defends grandson from group of violent thieves

<p>An elderly woman in Queensland has been injured while defending her grandson from a group of alleged teen thieves.</p> <p>The incident took place inside a carpark in a shopping centre, located in Maryborough, and the video has been shared around social media.</p> <p>Footage shows the group of youths opening the back of a red car and attacking the boy inside. They’re seen throwing punches and attempting to grab his legs. It is believed they were trying to steal the victim’s shoes.<br />The woman, who is understood to be the boy's grandmother, attempted to intervene by trying to grab one of the attackers, placing herself between her grandson and the other boys.</p> <p>The woman in her 70s was injured and the group fled before the police could arrive. They are yet to be charged but police urge anyone with information to come forward.</p> <p>“This was obviously a concerning incident, where a number of youths approached a youth in the carpark who was there with his grandmother,” Maryborough Inspector Paul Algie said.</p> <p><em>Images: Instagram</em></p>

<p>Nelson Mandela's grandson has slammed recent comments from Meghan Markle, after she shared an anecdote about South Africans comparing her marriage to Mandela's release from prison.</p> <p>In an <a href="https://oversixty.com.au/lifestyle/family-pets/meghan-markle-gets-candid-in-groundbreaking-interview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">explosive interview</a>, the Duchess of Sussex recalled a conversation from 2019 with a South African member of The Lion King production, who allegedly said to her, "I just need you to know: When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same we did when Mandela was freed from prison."</p> <p>Now, Zwelivelile 'Mandla' Mandela has spoken out about her claims that are reminiscent of the 1990 release of the legendary anti-apartheid campaigner after 27 years in jail, telling the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11159869/EXCLUSIVE-Nelson-Mandelas-grandson-slams-Meghan-Markle.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Mail</a>, "It can never be compared to the celebration of someone's wedding."</p> <p>He said, "Madiba's celebration was based on overcoming 350 years of colonialism with 60 years of a brutal apartheid regime in South Africa. So It cannot be equated to as the same."</p> <p>Referring to Meghan, he said, "Every day there are people who want to be Nelson Mandela, either comparing themselves with him or wanting to emulate him."</p> <p>"But before people can regard themselves as Nelson Mandelas, they should be looking into the work that he did and be able to be champions and advocates of the work that he himself championed."</p> <p>Zwelivelile's grandfather served 27 years in prison before being released and re-uniting opponents and going on to lead his country. </p> <p>He said when the people of South Africa expressed their joy at his grandfather's release and danced in the streets, it was for a far more important and serious reason than her marriage "to a white prince".</p> <p>The African National Congress MP added, "We are still bearing scars of the past. Queen attends christening of her great grandsons despite recent injury

Queen’s “favourite” grandson questioned by police in bizarre 740km lockdown trip

Elvis Presley’s grandson dead at 27

<p>Lisa Marie Presley's son and Elvis Presley's grandson Benjamin Keough has died at the age of 27.</p> <p>Reports have said Benjamin took his own life on Sunday. </p> <p>In a statement to TMZ, Lisa's manager, Roger Widynowsk, said, "She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11 year old twins and her oldest daughter Riley. </p> <p>“She adored that boy. Kirk Douglas’ grandson reflects on his passing in emotional interview

<p>Kirk Douglas’ grandson has honoured the late acting legend in an emotional interview.</p> <p>Speaking to <em><a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/cameron-douglas-legacy-grandfather-kirk-douglas-hard-imagine-anyone-doing-it-better-1278758">The Hollywood Reporter</a></em>, Cameron Douglas said it was difficult to lose his grandfather, who died on February 5 at the age of 103.</p> <p>“He was always there, always supportive and he believed in me even when maybe I had given up on myself,” said Cameron, who previously struggled with drug addiction.</p> <p>“Losing him is one of those things that, even when you sort of see it coming … it’s still difficult.</p> <p>“I take solace in the pride of being his grandson and having had the opportunity to spend as much time with him as I have. When I look at his life, what he accomplished and the way he carried himself, it's hard for me to imagine anyone doing it any better.”</p> <p>Cameron said he brought his partner Viviane Thibes and daughter Lua Izzy to Los Angeles so that the family could spend more time with Kirk.</p> <p>“I moved about 15 minutes away from them and have been spending a lot of time with him, bringing my daughter [and] Vivian over on weekends,” said the 41-year-old.</p> <p>“Just watching the bond between my daughter and grandfather was extremely special.</p> <p>“He would light up every time she was around. When she was in the same room, all she wanted to do was either be in his lap or be the focus of his attention. There was a herd of Jersey cattle at Windsor and we were brought up on it.</p> <p>“And it was always much fuller of flavour, much creamier, than other milks that we had growing up. One cannot be two things at once. You either are [royal] or you’re not,” he said.</p> <p>Royals must be meticulous in making sure they’re not seen exploiting their royal connections or tarnishing the family’s tightly guarded brand.</p> <p>Mr Woodcock, who is the Garter King of Arms, aids the Queen in being a principal adviser on ceremonial matters and heraldry.</p> <p>He is also part of ensuring that commercial concerns do not make illegitimate use of royal symbols.</p> <p>“It is such unusual times that it is a matter of waiting and seeing how things develop,” he said.</p> <p><em>The Telegraph</em>’s royal editor Camilla Tominey also said she thinks the couple may be asked to rebrand by Kensington Palace who may be averse to idea of Harry and Meghan keeping <em>Royal </em>in their name.</p> <p>“It remains to be seen whether they’ll be able to keep that royal aspect because for all intents and purposes, they are not carrying out any engagements on behalf of the Queen or their military appointments,” she told <em>ITV’s This Morning</em> program on Monday.</p> <p>“They are keeping their private patronages and their charitable work to themselves as they go off and have this new life in North America.”</p> <p>After a week of intense negotiations with the Queen, Prince William and Prince Charles, Harry was spotted travelling home to be reunited with his wife, Duchess Meghan and their 8-month-old son Archie.</p> <p>They are expected to spend most of their time in North America.</p>

<p>There is no doubt the Queen and her grandson - as well as heir to the throne - Prince William would share a particularly special bond. </p> <p>The British monarch has been training the royal for his position to one day take the crown since he was just a teenager. </p> <p>However, the two were not always so close. </p> <p>Royal Biographer Ingrid Seward wrote about their complex relationship in her book<span> </span><em>My Husband and I: The Inside Story of 70 Years of the Royal Marriage.</em></p> <p>The 37-year-old is next in line to the throne after his father, Prince Charles and has been aware of his impending responsibilities since he was just 13-years-old. </p> <p>It was around this time when the breakdown of Prince Charles’ and Princess Diana’s marriage began. </p> <p>The couple would divorce in 1996 and not long after that, Princess Di’s explosive interview with BBC’s<span> </span><em>Panorama<span> </span></em>program which shared the inner details of the Royal family would air. </p> <p>In this documentary, the mother-to-two would admit she struggled to fit into the famous family. </p> <p>She was also asked if she thought Prince Charles would ever be kind to which she said:"I don't think any of us know the answer to that.</p> <p>"And obviously it's a question that's in everybody's head.
