Boy’s lost stuffed toy goes on an airport adventure
When you lose your favourite stuffed toy, it can be a traumatic experience.
When six-year-old Owen left behind his favourite stuffed animal, a tiger named Hobbes, at Tampa International Airport, he was distraught. His mother immediately called Lost and Found and luckily Hobbes was found. But instead of being placed in storage until Owen returned, the airport staff had other ideas. Hobbes went on a little adventure, visiting the airport gym, the gelato store, the fire department, and even went to the control tower.
“I pitched this idea a couple of months ago after I saw a similar idea where someone took a stuffed lion around a museum,” airport operations manager Tony D’Aiuto said. “This seemed like the perfect opportunity.”
When Owen was finally reunited with Hobbes, he was given an album of Hobbes’ trip.
“It was very, very sweet,” said Owen’s mother, Amanda Lake. “We already told him over and over that Hobbes was on an adventure so it was nice to get back and show him that Hobbes really had been on an adventure.”
“Thank you to everyone at Tampa International Airport who took such great care of Hobbes,” his mother added. “It was such a nice surprise.”
