One Nation leader Pauline Hanson rushed to hospital – undergoes emergency surgery

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson was rushed to hospital in serious pain just a week after a tick bit her on the face and left her with facial paralysis and “unrecognisable.”

The Queensland senator posted an image of herself from a Canberra hospital bed on Wednesday, explaining to supporters she had undergone surgery to remove her appendix.

“Over the weekend I felt extraordinarily unwell. At first, I thought it was a case of food poisoning, so I just took it easy,” she told her Facebook followers this afternoon.

“I woke yesterday morning to continued pains in my stomach and decided to see a GP. I was told I needed further scans and blood tests and was taken immediately to the hospital. Surgeons determined I needed an emergency operation to remove my appendix.

“Compared to the pain I was in before the surgery, today's pain is a lot less and I plan on being back on my feet tomorrow.”

The 64-year-old’s health problems occurred just a week after her former Senate running mate Fraser Anning was censured in Parliament for his comments blaming Muslims for the Christchurch massacre.

Senator Hanson’s appendicitis also comes days after an explosive broadcast of the One Nation party members' comments were aired by Al Jazeera, with officials "on the sauce" whilst seeking a $20 million donation from the NRA (National Rifle Association) in the US.

Hanson's own statements were publicised as well, where she was recorded on camera questioning the 1996 Port Arthur Massacre, which saw 37 people killed.

She had been caught suggesting the horrific attack was a government conspiracy to take away guns.

In Brisbane last week, Ms Hanson fronted the cameras for a press conference saying she supported Australia’s existing ban on semi-automatic weapons.
