Peter Overton’s surprising admission about wife Jessica Rowe

Jessica Rowe is the first person to put her hand up and admit she’s not exactly a wizard in the kitchen, and her husband, Nine News host Peter Overton has no objections to this.

And on Monday’s Today Extra, Overton joked about having his own meal prepared so he can avoid his wife’s cooking.

“I order my own food in,” the 53-year-old newsreader said.

“Petey, he's so impressed (of my cooking). Aren't you darling?” the 48-year-old former co-host on The Project joked with her husband of 15 years, to which he jokingly replied: “Yes, I'm so impressed I order my own food in.”

After the light-hearted banter between the sweet couple, Overton directed his praise towards his wife for making what started as a joke about Rowe being a bad cook on Instagram into her own series of books titled Diary of a Crap Housewife.

“You had a bit of fun and it's turned into something more than you expected.

“It does challenge these Instagram perfect lives. It doesn't exist,” he said.

The journalist also added: “You can't have four kids, two kids, three kids and have it all perfect.

“I think that's what the authenticity of what you've done has been the key to its success,” Overton added.

Funnily enough, this is not the first time Overton has made remarks over Jess’ lack of culinary skills.

Just last week, footage of the Nine newsreader reacting to his wife’s latest dinners.

The former Studio 10 host was left cackling on air after listening to her husband voice his displeasure with her pasta with “very watery tomato sauce.”

On a monitor, Overton was shown sighing in-between takes of the 6 pm news bulletin where he was seen saying: “Oh, for the 20th night in a row. Pasta with a very watery tomato sauce. Yeah, I am a bit over that.”

Cheekily, he then pulled out his “survival pack” which proved to be none other than a few meaty burgers and fries from McDonald’s.
