Princess Mary speaks candidly about the death of her mother
Crown Princess Mary has appeared on television, discussing the death of her mother which happened when she was 25. Appearing on Danish program Aftenshowet, Mary spoke candidly of how she felt after losing her mother to heart disease in 1997.
“I felt like I was all alone with my grief. That no one understood me and that I stood still while everyone around me moved on.”
The episode focused on the theme of loneliness, which the Australian-born princess was more than happy to discuss. “It’s a real and big problem that’s gone unnoticed, so I’m glad that it’s drawing some attention now… There’s still a lot of taboo around it, it’s an issue we have to talk about.”
