Final photos captured of Marilyn Monroe to be auctioned

Final photos captured of Marilyn Monroe to be auctioned

Prints from Marilyn Monroe’s final photoshoot are due to be auctioned in London next week. The photographs, taken just three weeks before the screen icon’s untimely death, were shot by Monroe’s close friend George Barris on July 13, 1962.

Originally intended for a book about Monroe, the photos didn’t see the light of day for decades after a devastated Barris cancelled the book, which was due to be called Marilyn: Her Life In Her Own Words.

Twenty-five years later, however, Barris published the images using his original negatives, creating 99 prints of the eight photographs. On June 4, the 10 by 7 inch prints are expected to sell for 1,000 GBP each.
