Downton Abbey fans, you can now own Lady Crawley’s beautiful “little cottage”
If you’re a fan of Downton Abbey, and have a few spare millions lying around, you could nab the stunning mansion that doubles as the home of Lady Violet Crawley, played by Dame Maggie Smith. Filming for the popular historical drama has continued for five years, but with the announcement that the sixth season is to be the show’s last, Byfleet Manor’s current owner has decided to sell.
And the price tag? A whopping 3.95 million pounds. The home is 6,000 square feet of luxury, and real estate agent Henry Pryor says he expects a great deal of interest in the property.
Julie Hutton, a businesswoman, bought the manor a decade ago for around 1 million pounds. Ms Hutton renovated the house and began holding events at the “little cottage”, as it is described by Lady Crawley. Since the show’s massive popularity around the world, Hutton has even played hosts to some fans of the show, serving them from silver plates and bone china to give them an authentic Downton experience.
