Food is now free on Virgin Australia domestic flights

Virgin Australia has expanded complimentary food to all flights across its Australian domestic network.

The airline said the free food and checked baggage would complement its complimentary in-flight entertainment to underscore its position as a “premium, contemporary, full-service airline”.

The free food will include complimentary wine, beer and soft drink between 5pm and 7pm on weekdays and is expected to boost the airline’s competitive position against rival Qantas.

Virgin Australia chief customer officer Mark Hassell said the move was an important part of the airline’s ability to deliver a consistent, premium service across the airline’s network

“Today’s announcement, coupled with our exceptional service and leadership in on-time performance, puts us in a strong position to continue to grow our loyal customer base,” Mr Hassell said.
