RECALL: IKEA pulls popular item over choking hazard fears

IKEA has issued an urgent recall after it was discovered that their bibs could be a potential choking hazard to babies.

The Swedish retailer’s Matvra brand of red and blue two-packs have been recalled following two separate reports of buttons coming loose.

The furniture giant released a statement on Monday, reassuring consumers that neither cases required medical treatment.

The did say however, that the items “could have been swallowed presenting a risk of choking”.

Customers who have purchased the bib were warned to stop using them immediately and return them to an IKEA store for a full refund.

Proof of purchase was not required.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding,” the statement read.
