Are your towels secretly filthy?

We are all conscious of the dirt on our hands and the germs that can lurk there, but what about the germs festering on the towels in our homes, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms?

It has been revealed kitchen towels are rampant little breeding grounds for germs and nasty bacteria. Bits of raw food and dirt can easily build up on the towels throughout the day and should be washed daily.

Expert Home Tips has advised that the towels need a good 60-degree cycle in your washing machine to banish the germs.

Surprisingly our bathroom towels are equally as bad. Damp towels become the perfect breeding grounds for growing bacteria. And if that’s not bad enough, when you dry yourself after a shower, you’re ridding your body of dead skin cells which also accumulate on the towel.

Today.com shared that washing towels separately every three days in warm water followed by a low heat tumble dry is “the best way to wash towels”.

How often do you wash your kitchen and bathroom towels? Let us know in the comments below.
