The prime time to go to the bathroom on a plane

Going to the bathroom on a plane is never the best part of travelling. Not only are the bathrooms on the planes tiny but there is usually someone outside the door waiting for their turn, leaving you with minimal privacy.

A former flight attend understands this struggle and has told Mel magazine when the perfect time to attend to your bowel movements is during a flight.

Erika Roth said that just after the seatbelt sign comes off and just before drinks are served are the times that will give you the most privacy in the bathroom.

She explained that if you go to the bathroom during these two time slots, you should be undisturbed for ten minutes but after 20 minutes you will get a knock on the door.

Erika also added that if a passenger can wait until after the flight to go do a poo then is appreciate by those on board as “the stench can fill a cabin quickly”.

Two years ago, a flight was forced to return to London due to an odour coming from an overflowing toilet.

As cabin crew were unable to fix the problem and the smell became unbearable, the plane was forced to run around near Brussels and land at Heathrow Airport.

A Tory councillor Mr Schdev said, “‘The pilot made an announcement requesting senior cabin crew, and we knew something was a bit odd.”

“About 10 minutes later he said you may have noticed there’s a quite pungent smell coming from one of the toilets.”

“He said it was liquid faecal excrement, those are the words he used. He said it’s not a technical fault with the plane, and he was very adamant about that.”
