Queen gives special message to Aussies

The Queen has delivered a special message to Australian families.

Her Majesty sent a text of condolences to the Governors of New South Wales and Queensland following the recent bushfires, which saw devastation throughout both states.

"Prince Philip and I have been deeply saddened to hear of the tragic loss of life and property caused by bushfires affecting communities and businesses across northern New South Wales and South East Queensland," the 93-year-old royal wrote.

There were 65 active bushfires burning across the region with an estimated 21 lost and two lives taken.
