5 places every chocolate lover should visit

Planning a whole holiday around chocolate? Sounds like a sweet idea to us! Make sure you visit these five destinations.

1. Panny’s Amazing World of Chocolate, Phillip Island, VIC

Think of Panny’s as our very own Willy Wonka’s, with hands on interactive displays, animatronic figures, chocolate artworks (like the statue of David) and the world’s largest chocolate waterfall. You can even use Panny’s Amazing Chocolate Machine to create your own chocolate bar, filled with the craziest things you can imagine.

2. The Chocolate Boutique Hotel, Bournemouth, UK

Check into the world’s first ever chocolate themed hotel and spend a night (or more) surrounded by its creamy goodness. The rooms are styled in a rich palette of browns, caramels and creams, and come with daily helpings of delicious chocolate. You can get a personal chocolate fountain in your room, sip chocolate cocktails in the bar or learn about the history of chocolate and whip up your own truffles at an immersive weekend workshop.

3. Maison Cailler, Switzerland

The Swiss know a thing or two about chocolate. At Maison Cailler in Montreaux, close to Lake Geneva, there’s a fascinating museum that charts the history of chocolate from the Aztecs through to modern day as well as a team of chocolatiers on hand to introduce you to their sweet arts. And in true Swiss style, you can even take the dedicated Chocolate Train from Montreaux to the factory.

4. Hershey, Pennsylvania, USA (Pictured)

Billed as ‘the sweetest place on earth’, Hershey is the hometown of the eponymous chocolate brand. It’s now grown to include a theme park with roller coasters, Hershey’s Chocolate World, a museum and plenty of resorts and restaurants offering themed experiences. Book into The Chocolate Spa at the Hotel Hershey for a luxurious treatment like a whipped cocoa bath, cocoa bean or chocolate sugar body scrub, or a chocolate fondue body wrap. You’ll be good enough to eat.

5. 100% Chocolate Café, Tokyo, Japan

As the name suggests, this is the café for serious chocoholics. Owned by Meiji, Japan’s leading confectionary company, the interior itself is even designed to look like bars of chocolate. Choose from a huge menu of hot chocolates using single bean varieties from around the world and flavoured with fruits and herbs. There are 56 different varieties of chocolate bar on offer, which you can use to create your own custom box.
