1. Tokyo, Japan
The Japanese capital is an incredible city on so many levels and it also happens to be one of the world’s safest. It’s the largest city in the world with a population of more than 36 million, yet everything is spotlessly clean and runs like clockwork. Crime levels are very low and you’ll never feel unsafe on the streets, no matter what the hour. The metro system is efficient and easy to use, even late at night, and the locals are always happy to offer their assistance.
2. Copenhagen, Denmark
Scandinavia has a good reputation for safety as a whole and Copenhagen is arguably the safest city of the bunch. There is a very small risk of petty crimes like pickpocketing or bag snatching, but it is comparably much lower than in cities of a similar size. The people are polite, the atmosphere genteel and the overall experience is one that makes travellers of any age feel confident and comfortable.

Canadians have a reputation for being among the world’s friendliest people and it’s certainly well-deserved. Montreal is a modern, clean, easy-to-navigate city with a low crime rate and a laid back atmosphere. Much of the city is connected via a vast underground network of arcades and shopping centres, so you are even protected from the weather.
