This flight is the most likely to get cancelled in Australia

Nothing puts the brakes on a holiday worse than finding out your flight has been cancelled. According to new figures from the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, if you’re planning on taking some time off in the nation’s capital any time soon, you might want to look at an alternate form of transport.

September figures showed cancellations were highest on the Canberra to Sydney and Sydney to Canberra flights, with 8.1 per cent affected (roughly two flights a day).

Overall 59 flights were cancelled on the Canberra to Sydney route, compared to the 30 cancelations recorded between Canberra and Melbourne during the same period.

While the figures have raised some question marks over the route, most of the major airlines have maintained that the figures don’t indicate there are any problems.

A Virgin Australia spokeswoman told Fairfax the airline believed there were no ongoing problems with the Sydney to Canberra route, despite the findings.

"Cancelling flights is never our preference but unfortunately we do occasionally need to change services due to adverse weather, operational requirements or other factors outside our control.

"We understand this can be frustrating for our guests and we appreciate their patience and understanding," she said.
