Sold! Inside Sydney’s $35 million mansion

The historic Potts Point trophy home Bomera has sold for close to $35 million amid widespread rumours the buyer behind the transaction is billionaire “man of steel” Sanjeev Gupta.

It is said that the colonial style home will be where Gupta and his English-born wife Nicola will reside later this year, moving from their Bellevue Hill estate Barford they have leased for a reported $30,000 a week in recent years.

The sale has benefited Leanne Catelan, daughter of the late property data entrepreneur Ray Catelan, who purchased the impressive home in 2013 for $12.5 million, which is a fraction of her selling price.

Rumours have been circulating over the last few months, saying the Gupta family are planning to purchase the residence for almost $35 million in a beneficial trust. But Bill Malouf, of LJ Hooker Double Bay remained tight lipped and only confirmed that the 1856-built property is now off the market.
