He may have recently lost his job, but Aussie TV and radio personality Red Symons certainly won’t be strapped for cash after selling his former home for a staggering $5 million.

The five-bedroom Melbourne property set a new house price record for the suburb of Fitzroy North, smashing its reserve by $400,000. Symons and his then-wife Elly first purchased the home in 1998 for $730,000.

The couple, who are now separated, extensively renovated the house around eight to 10 years ago, bringing the classic Victorian property into the 21st century.
