Hilarious cheat sheet to help tourists speak like an Aussie

Australian slang is a unique art form that many tourists have to take time to grow accustomed to.

One “helpful” writer has created a cheat sheet to help new tourists avoid any embarrassing misunderstandings with the locals.

The guide, which was found in an Australian travel book, lists the slang words for 13 common words.

The list starts off by correctly saying that Aussies will often refer to as a friend as a “mate”.

As the list continues, the slang words become even more peculiar with Australians not even hearing of these phrases before.

According to the guide, Aussies call snakes “crikey mikey” and the moon is referred to as “mother onion”.

Other bizarre translations include calling a cigarette a “koala log” and a sweatshirt a “Sleeve Urwins”.

Unbeknownst to tourists, the slang guide is actually a prank.

The author created the cheat sheet to continue the tradition of convincing tourists to believe odd things about Australia, just like how we ride kangaroos and have deadly drop bears.

Hopefully tourists will figure out the joke before they start using these bizarre words!
