The best cruise tips to get the most out of your holiday

Cruising is becoming a prime way for Aussies to travel and is one of the most popular attractions for those looking to get away during the holidays.

There are a few things you should be aware of though before you step foot on a dreamy seascape to ensure you get the best trip possible.

Here are the best cruise tips and tricks to help make the most out of your water holiday.

Check in online before sailing and make sure all your documents are prepared before you step in line to board – you won’t win the favour of other people queuing to get aboard.

Avoid making a beeline for the buffet once boarded – they are packed, cramped and not the best way to start your awesome holiday. Instead, go get a drink to bide your time or pop down to the adult-only pool to get away from any chaos that might be hurting your ears.

Being late for shore tours is a pet peeve of many guests. You slow everyone down and sometimes being the last one to arrive to an island excursion can mean everyone misses out on sights, fun or learning experiences to be had.

Book your shore tour before you board, because although they do have booths set up to help you book while sailing – you could miss out on an excursion you were hoping to go on.

Do not miss the safety muster – attendance is compulsory and latecomers ruin everything from running on time.

Make sure you try all the dining options you can while onboard. It is not often top-notch meals are at your disposal and it is best to try something and not like it rather than not know.

Look carefully at the inclusions offered when comparing prices such as gratuities, room service and alcohol as it can all add up – unfortunately not everything on a cruise is free.

You cannot forget your passport, visas and travel insurance or else you might risk losing access to a port.
