8 reasons to bring duct tape on your next cruise

Swimmers? Check. Pants with an expandable waistline for the buffet? Check. Nautically themed-eye glasses? Check. While you might have most of the items for your cruise organised at the moment, Cruise Critic has suggested there’s one you might need to pack.

Here are eight reasons you should take duct tape on your next cruise.

1. Seal curtains

No one’s going to begrudge you wanting to sleep in on holidays, and a couple of carefully placed pieces of tape can ensure no light peeks through your cabin’s drapes.

2. Fix broken luggage

Maybe it was the airline, maybe it was just wear and tear, but any little rips and and tears in your beloved luggage can be easily fixed with some duct tape.

3. Remove unwanted lint

Wrap a round of tape around your hand and gently dab the duct tape over your clothing to remove hair, lint and any other unwanted lint particles.

4. Repair sandals on the go

It might not be the most stylish look, but if you’re in the middle of a port stop and your sandals have given way, duct tape can fix your footwear in a pinch.

5. Mend torn hems

Noticed an unravelled hem on a pair of jeans or a blazer? Simply attach a small piece of duct tape underneath the fold and no one on your cruise will be wiser.

6. Keep shower curtain at bay

The creeping, clinging shower curtain is quite an annoyance in a cruise cabin, but a couple of well-placed pieces of duct tape can help keep it at bay.

7. Help keep your towels in place

If you’re headed out for some vitamin D, use a couple of small pieces of duct tape to attach your towel to the deck chair and you’ll never have to worry about it falling off.

8. Make your luggage stand out

Finding your luggage at a busy bag pick up can seem like finding a needle in a haystack, but having some well-placed duct tape can really make it stand out.
