Boy George to sell long-time London home
Boy George has decided to offload his lavish English estate after owning it for nearly 40 years.
The singer and former The Voice Australia judge bought the London property in 1984, a year after releasing his hit Karma Chameleon with Culture Club, and is now hoping to sell it for a hefty £17 million ($AU 28.4 million).
Located in the affluent neighbourhood of Hampstead, the six-bedroom villa is a Grade II designated historical building with an “eccentric mix of Gothic and Italianate architecture”, according to the listing.
Inside, the entryway boasts a dramatic central staircase and soaring central hallway, with a medication room, a reception room, a galleried first-floor landing, and a master bedroom with views of Hampstead Heath and a skylight in the adjoining bathroom being among its standout features.
The home also includes a rear garden and roof terrace, as well as off-street parking.
The 61-year-old star isn’t the only famous resident of the estate home - originally called “The Logs” when it was built in 1868 by civil engineer and developer Edward Grotto and was later subdivided - with comedian Marty Feldman and singer Sam Smith also residing in different sections of the once-whole luxe abode.
George also purchased the house next door from Smith and began a three-year renovation to combine the two homes.
But, the Evening Standard reported that the star ran into problems after local planning authorities took issue with the project.
