Why Prince William and Kate haven’t met baby Archie yet

He has fast become one of the world’s most famous faces just like his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as well as his other relatives – however, the tiny tot has not met all of them yet.

As the first child of Prince Harry and Meghan, it is of no surprise the new parents want to soak up as much time with their newborn as possible.

He has met his great-grandparents, the Queen and Prince Philip – alongside his grandmother, Doria Ragland.

However, it is believed his uncle and aunty, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge haven’t been given the opportunity yet to meet baby Archie due to their busy schedule filled with work commitments.

Since 37-year-old Duchess Meghan went into labour last week, both Prince William and Duchess Kate have been travelling across parts of the UK.

On Tuesday, just after baby Archie was welcomed into the world, both the Duke and Duchess were busying themselves by launching a new sailing race in London that provides benefits to eight of their royal patronages.

The next day, on Wednesday, the couple travelled to North Wales for a day filled with royal engagements – the newest arrival to the royal family was not far from their minds though.

Prince William told reporters he was “thrilled” for his younger brother’s new arrival, adding in a cheeky comment.

“I’m very pleased to welcome my brother to the sleep deprivation society that is parenting!” he said.

Duchess Kate added her children, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte were born in the same few months as their baby cousin.

“It’s such a special time – with Louis and Charlotte just having had their birthdays. It’s such a great time of the year to have a baby. Spring’s in the air, so it’s really great,” she said.

“As William said, look forward to meeting him and finding out what his name’s going to be.”

It is possible the royal heirs squeezed in an appearance at Frogmore cottage over the weekend, but with three kids and a heap of responsibilities – it seems unlikely.

Archie is cousin to Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1.

Apart from his first cousins, the newest arrival to the royal family will have a number of cousins to be playing with, considering Mia and Lena Tindall, and Savannah and Isla Phillips will want to get in a few cuddles as well.
