Why an older brother is named best dad at a father-daughter dance

Mohammed Hasher and his six-year-old sister, Noor, were left homeless after their parents divorce. Once they moved to the US, they had no contact with their father.

Mohammed found his sister one day upset because she thought she wouldn’t be able to go to her school’s father-daughter dance. Mohammed stepped in and saved the day by taking her out to buy a new dress and attended the dance with her as a fill-in father.

"I wasn’t going to let my little sister be the one out of all her friends to not be at the dance", he told Buzzfeed News.

The siblings then spent the night on the dancefloor and he won Noor a box of lollies for being awarded the "best dad" award.

Mohammad wrote on Twitter, “Got to take my baby sister to her first daddy daughter dance the other night. Sorry you don't have a dad but I'll always be there for you.”

Mohammed has received a lot of support online for filling in for their absent father.
