“I’m sick of it”: Waleed Aly slams Hollywood elites on The Project
He had a go at Kim Kardashian’s White House meeting with Donald Trump last week, and now Waleed Aly has taken aim at “Hollywood elites” and their foul-mouthed sprays against Donald Trump.
On Tuesday night’s episode of The Project, Aly took issue with Robert De Niro’s expletive-laden tirade against the US president at the Tony Awards on Sunday night.
“I’m going to say one thing: F**k Trump!” De Niro said to the crowd who gave him a standing ovation. “It’s no longer down with Trump, it’s F**k Trump.”
The Project host slammed De Niro’s comments and the crowd’s reaction.
“What is going on here?” he said. “De Niro gets up, says, ‘eff Trump’, and gets a standing ovation?”
Aly argued that De Niro’s comments and others like it from other celebs were playing to Trump’s advantage and were doing more harm than good.
“Celebrities saying stuff like that about Trump is exactly what Trump talks about to his base and they go, ‘yeah, I’m sick of these Hollywood elites being like that’ — do they not put that together?” he said.
