The BBC has provided an update regarding the “emergency” meeting at Buckingham Palace, following speculation it was about the health of Prince Philip.
The meeting, described by some royal insiders as “highly irregular”, is understood by the UK national broadcaster’s royal correspondent Peter Hunt, to be not about the health of the Queen or the Duke of Edinburgh.

The BBC report noted Her Majesty and Prince Philip both fulfilled engagements on Wednesday, “The Queen met Prime Minister Theresa May at Buckingham Palace to formally agree the dissolution of parliament ahead of the general election, while Prince Philip attended Lord's Cricket Ground to open a new stand.”
