The island that looks like a turtle and is underwater for 9 months of the year

In China’s Muodaoxi River, there is an island that, at certain times of the year, reveals itself to look like a turtle. Normally just a greenery-covered peak, when water in the river drops between 163 and 168 metres, more of the rock is visible, and it certainly looks a lot like a massive turtle.

When the water falls further, to 145 metres, more rock is revealed, connecting the island to the mainland. As spring is the best time to see the turtle, locals have dubbed the island “spring turtle rising from the water”.
