Queen releases new series of rare Prince Philip photos

The Queen has released a touching series of photos of Prince Philip, as the world continues to mourn the royal.

One of the seven pictures shows the Duke of Edinburgh during one of his visits to Australia.

“The Duke of Edinburgh was committed to the Commonwealth, meeting and connecting with people from every walk of life,” the Royal Family said in the social media post.

“Since 1949, His Royal Highness has: visited 70% of the world’s countries, visited 50 Commonwealth countries, made 229 solo visits, often to the most remote parts of the Commonwealth.”

Philip faithfully stood by the Queen's side throughout her 69-year reign, and died at Windsor Castle on Friday.

“The Duke had a number of Commonwealth appointments over the course of his life, including with the Commonwealth Games Federation, The Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth and the Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League,” the post continued.

“His Royal Highness also had military affiliations in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Trinidad and Tobago.”

The Duke's death has sparked an outpour of tributes from around the world, and a number of personal messages from his immediate family.
