Prince William's moving tribute
Prince William has paid tribute to submariners who have served their country at an event held in London.
The Submariners’ Remembrance Service and Parade was held at Middle Temple in London on Sunday and was attended by the Duke of Cambridge, who is the Commodore-in-Chief of the Submarine Service.
Having attended the event with the Duchess of Cambridge by his side, William chose to wear a navy suit that was adorned with military medals.
The event hopes to acknowledge the submariners who have “Crossed the Bar” while representing their country and is a service that happens every year.
The Prince served in the Royal Navy for two months in 2008, and in that short time, he discovered an enemy submarine and sunk it, in what was a confidential exercise.
He was made Commodore-in-Chief in 2006.
The Duke was responsible for laying a wreath made of red poppies during the service followed with a reception at Middle Temple Hall.
Around 400 guests were in attendance, and amongst them were those who have previously served in WWII and those who are serving currently.
The annual ceremony was introduced in 1923 and takes place on the Sunday before Remembrance Day.
