Prince William’s adorable nickname for the Queen

According to Royal protocol, the Queen should only be greeted as Your Majesty or Ma’am, but her grandchildren have unique and affectionate nicknames they call her in private.

Business Insider have reported that Prince William and Harry acknowledge the Queen as “granny” but over the years there were other nicknames they had for her.

In the Daily Mail columnist Richard Kay said, “At two, William was boisterous and full of beans.”

Richard recalled one occasion that William called out to the Queen after falling over.

“Gary, Gary," Richard wrote. When a guest asked who the Prince was calling to, the Queen explained: "'I'm Gary. He hasn't learned to say Granny yet.'

The Queen is now a great-grandmother and with her new young family members come more endearing nicknames.

The Duchess of Cambridge told ITV last year that Gorge has adopted an adorable nickname for the Queen, just like his father did when he was younger.

“George is only two-and-a-half and he calls her 'Gan-Gan.' She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay and that just shows her love for her family.”
