20 members of Over60 catch up in Canberra every fortnight

Over60 Catch-ups are bringing people together and creating life-long friendships along the way. Since the launch of Catch-ups, a place where anyone from the Over60 community can organise a Catch-up to meet in their area or look for events coming up near them, it has taken off with Over60 members embracing the option to finally meet each other offline.

The Over60 Canberra Catch-up began with just four strangers, but has now grown to 20 friends who meet regularly.

“We started off with four members and it has grown since then. We now have approximately 20 members,” says Doreen Fuller, organiser of the Over60 Canberra Catch-up.

Every catch-up brings new people, eager to meet and chat with fellow Over60 members.

“We had three or four new members coming to our last catch-up,” explains Doreen, adding, “It varies as to how many turn up to each get together, due to illness, family commitments, and school holidays. At the last meet up we had 10 with four unable to attend at the last minute.”

But if you miss one, there’s always next time, with the group loving getting together so much they’ve turned the meetings into a regular fortnightly catch-ups. The Canberra Catch-up meet at different places around Canberra so it’s a great way to discover new locations in the capital.

“We love to meet up every second Sunday at different locations around Canberra. We either just have coffee or we then stay for lunch, whatever you want,” says Doreen.

So if you’re new to the area, or not so new, why not join these ladies for a chat and cuppa?  You’re guaranteed to make some friends along the way.

“We have all made new friends from the coffee meetup,” says Doreen. “We are a very friendly group and would love to have new members come meet us. There are no requirements or cost, only what you order on the day.”

The next Over60 Catch-up in Canberra starts at 11am on Sunday 17 July at Ricardo's Cafe Jamieson Plaza 1 Bowman St, Macquarie, ACT.
