Strangers band together to support high school girl bullied about her weight

The internet can be a wonderful thing sometimes. A teenage girl in Tennessee has experienced just how wonderful after becoming the victim of some online bullies recently.

With this year’s annual prop fast approaching, Kristen Layne posted pictures of the dress she had worn the previous year, hoping to sell it so she could buy herself a new gown. Unfortunately, the post attracted some negative comments from a pair of men, who remarked about Kristen’s weight and looks.

Showing a fighting spirit, Kristen replied to the men, “Can you please stop with the comments? Sorry I don’t have the best body. Sorry that I’m not pleasing to your eye.”

Kristen didn’t have to stand alone, however, with strangers rushing to defend her and give her compliments. Some people even donated to an online dress fund set up in Kristen's name.

It wasn’t long before word had spread about the small town girl who had raised $400 for her new dress, and more donations began to flood in. Kind strangers raised over $6,000 for Kristen, who has now donated the dress in question, as well as using the funds to help some friends buy their dream gowns.
