Julie Bishop steals the show at Federal Budget in $2500 sparkly stunner

It was a special night for Treasurer Josh Frydenberg who handed down his first Budget, including tax cuts for millions of Australians and a surplus for the first time in over 12 years.

However, an eye-catching, sparkly blue dress managed to narrowly steal the show last night.

The retiring MP, Julie Bishop, showed up for her last Budget meeting in a $2541 Orla dress by Australian fashion designer Rachel Gilbert.

The blue power dress stunned onlookers when she entered the chambers. Seen smiling ear to ear, the foreign minister was raising her hand in the air and later stood up to give a standing ovation for the treasurer’s speech.

Bishop posted a picture of herself in the number, writing: “Celebrating the first budget surplus in over a decade. Great news for all Australians.”

Fans were quick to react on social media, calling on the retiring politician to stay in politics, as well as comment on the shiny outfit.

The blue number is believed to be paying tribute to Autism Awareness Day, which was the same day, and calls on Australians all over the country to “go blue” to help raise awareness and funds for Autism.
