Grant Denyer's ratings surprise

Despite recent reports that Em Rusciano didn’t want two new hosts on her breakfast radio show, the addition of Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee has resulted in a ratings increase.

The off-air controversy hasn’t impacted listener numbers of the 2DayFM breakfast show in the latest ratings poll released today.

KIIS co-hosts Kyle and Jackie O took a hit of 0.4 on their ratings numbers from the last audience poll, but still came out on top on the FM charts.

The ratings number of Rusciano, Denyer and Kavalee rose by 0.5, with the show consistently increasing in listeners since the two new hosts came on board.

Since the start of 2018, the 2DayFM breakfast show has increased their audience share by 2.1 points.

The rise in ratings follows reports by The Daily Telegraph that staff were leaving the show because of Rusciano’s diva antics.

Reportedly, there have been tensions between Rusciano and Kavalee off-air.

When Denyer was asked about the behind-the-scenes tension, he played down the situation.

“(There are no tensions) not with me, I am good,” he said at the time.

“We are three different personalities, we come at it from totally different angles. We are three strangers, who are still gelling.”

The Gold Logie nominee said that he was the committed to making the show a success despite the controversy.

“I want this to work, I am in it to win it,” he said.

“The last four (teams) have failed.

“I know it is no small task to take a show which has been at the bottom and turn it around, but I am up for the challenge.”
