Grant Denyer announces surprising move

Grant Denyer has announced he will join Em Rusciano’s breakfast radio show in 2018.

The Family Feud star will co-host the breakfast radio show alongside Rusciano and Ed Kavalee.

Comedian Harley Breen, who was Rusciano’s co-host this year, announced on-air he wouldn’t be returning to the program in 2018.

Rusciano said in a statement, “I’m delighted to have the blonde bombshell, glamorous bogan and Australia’s best friend join our show.”

Kavalee added: “He’s one of the biggest names in Australian showbiz (that’s not a short joke). We have a brand-new microphone and booster seat ready to go (that was a short joke).”

Denyer is no stranger to working the early breakfast hours after his seven years on Sunrise as the roving weatherman.

But he quit the Channel Seven show at the end of 2013, citing the gruelling hours that led to “full-blown chronic fatigue”.

“I just pushed too hard, too long. I did that at the toll of myself and my family. It was a juggernaut that I couldn’t stop,” Denyer told news.com.au after leaving the show.

“I didn’t want to walk away. They asked me to do another year on Sunrise and I agreed to it but I didn’t feel like I should. I wanted to, but I could have killed myself. It was a big toll on my family.

“I didn’t see the warning signs. I thought I was invincible and I fu**ed up.”

2Day FM breakfast with Em, Grant and Ed will be on-air from January 15.

Grant's announcement comes as hiswife Chezzi revealed she had emergency surgery for debilitating migraines.
