Good news for caravan owners in this Aussie state
Registration costs for caravans and camper trailers in NSW will reduce by 40 per cent from November 1.
The new costs will apply to privately registered caravans and purpose-built trailers weighing up to 4.5 tonnes and will result in savings of up to $471.
NSW Caravan and Camping Industry Association (CCIA) welcomed the move with chief executive Lyndel Gray describing the announcement as “great news” for the industry and a “great outcome” for the state’s caravanning community.
“Our association has long been advocating to cut the cost of caravan and camper trailer registration fees and we are delighted we have been listened to and action has been taken,” she said.
NSW is currently one of the most expensive states for caravan registrations, says Ms Gray.
The reduction in registration costs will bring it in line with other states.
CCIA president Theo Whitmont said caravan and camping holidays was an integral part of the state’s tourism economy and were especially important to regional areas.
“One of the major reasons we have pushed this issue for so long is that we want to make it as easy as possible for more people to become caravan and camper trailer owners and start living the dream,” he said.
