Georgie Gardner’s toddler drama: The hilarious moment you missed on Today

There’s an old saying in the world of television, “Never work with kids or animals”, and Today show host Georgie Gardner learnt this first hand during yesterday’s program.

A group of toddlers were on set as part of the Bonds Baby Search competition, while Gardner and her co-host Karl Stefanovic interviewed Instagram star Celeste Barber.

Barber, who has gained notoriety parodying the vapid photoshoots of celebrities tried to get the message out about Bonds Baby Search, but things quickly got out of hand.

When Gardner picked up one of the crying toddlers, only to seemingly make matters worse, producers must’ve known they were in for a rocky segment.

“Well, that might make it cry even more,” Gardner said as she reached down and lifted the child onto her lap after Stefanovic’s suggestion.

“No, that never happens,” said Stefanovic. “Get in there, Georgie, get in there.”

But this only made the little girl cry more, and Karl couldn’t contain his laughter.

“It’s all about realness,” Barber said, trying to explain the campaign.

“No one is listening, Georgie,” she added over the sound of crying.

What are your thoughts? Do you think this segment was handled well?
