George and Amal Clooney welcome their twins
After what feels like a lifetime of anticipation, George and Amal Clooney have welcomed a pair of healthy newborn twins to the world.
The couple confirmed the news in a statement released this morning, as well as the names of the babies – a girl named Ella and a boy named Alexander.
The statement read: “This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”
A source close to the family told PEOPLE the couple are overjoyed, “This is very good news. We’re very, very happy. George is going to be a great father of twins.”
The 56-year-old Oscar-winning actor is reportedly overjoyed with becoming a new father, and the 39-year-old human-rights lawyer is happy and healthy.
