Niagara Falls has frozen

Spectacular tourist attraction Niagara Falls has frozen. Yep, the majestic, thundering wonder has succumbed to temperatures as low as minus-9°C, with parts of the falls freezing over.

The falls aren’t frozen solid, however, water is still flowing in parts, while other sections are covered in great sheets of ice. Areas that aren’t icy are shrouded in mist and snow, creating a beautiful sight for tourists, who have flocked to the area in spite of the frigid weather.

The only recorded time the falls were completely frozen over was in 1848, and was caused by an ice jam up river.
