First glimpse of Barnaby Joyce’s new baby son

The first photos of former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce’s newborn son with partner Vikki Campion have been revealed.

Images obtained by Seven News show the three-week old baby, Sebastian Joyce, in the arms of his mother as the family enjoy a coffee break at Armidale Airport in New South Wales.

Sebastian, who was born on April 16, was bundled in a white blanket and matching hat.

Mr Joyce also has four daughters with his former wife, but Sebastian is Ms Campion’s first child.

It was first revealed that the 50-year-old had an affair with his former employee when photographs were released in February of Vikki Campion with a very obvious baby bump.

After an intense media storm and a battle within his own party, Mr Joyce stepped down from his role as deputy prime minister and leader of the Nationals party.

After weeks of defending Ms Campion, as well as apologising to his wife and daughters, Mr Joyce made the surprising claim that the child may not be his.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald in early March, Mr Joyce said the identity of the biological father was “a grey area” but said he would raise the child as his own.

When Sebastian was born, Mr Joyce told Fairfax Media, “We are very happy and just taking it quietly."
