Dying woman writes heartbreaking letter to beloved cat’s future owner

Before passing away, Susie’s owner hoped her beloved orange cat would find a new forever home, even putting pen to paper to describe their treasured time together in a heartwarming letter.

In May, the unknown woman’s son took Susie to a Maryland animal shelter as he couldn’t keep her any longer due to the pet policy at his place. He gave staff his mother’s letter, which will be passed onto the future owner.

Over two pages, the owner describes a beautiful four and a half year life spent with her cherished companion. It ends with a simple hope for Susie’s future: “Susie is unusual but I enjoy her company. I hope you enjoy Susie as much as I have,” the letter reads.

Staff at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center were left with many unanswered questions, but were touched by the special relationship between Susie and her owner.

“We're left to guess so much. But because of the note we can more easily imagine this sweet life that the two of them shared,” Katherine Zenzano, the shelter's community outreach coordinator, told The Huffington Post.

Staff hope that Susie will soon find another forever home, who will love her as much as her previous owner clearly did.
